Let's say I get an AR15 while stationed somewhere, then get moved overseas to Germany, Korea, or wherever.
Can I bring my AR15 and have it stored on base as I can't keep it with my parents in Los Angeles :banghead:, or do I have to trust Flory with it? :p

I leave mine with trusted family. Most overseas assignments subject U.S. personnel to the firearms laws of the host nation.

Skunk, when I went to Korea I could of taken my weapons in my household goods shipment but when I got there the weapons would of had to been stored in the armory.

I don't know the current regulations, but when I was in any firearms being brought overseas had to be individually approved and specifically listed on your PCS orders. The Staus of Forces agreement with the host nation pretty much determined what privately owned weapons were authorized.
I just left mine with my parents.

By the time your service period is up your AR would have Gunsite, Thunder Ranch, ITTS, Yavapai, etc. stickers all over it ;) :D

Lenny-Joe: Good thing you didn't bring them over; we had a dude that brought them then couldn't ship them back - interesting issues.

Good to be back in the ole U.S. .
Been busy visiting family and getting settled back into the goodlife.
No long term travel plans here. In a training squadron. Gotta get them new A-10 pilots up in the air so they can get qualified and out in the field.
Have been doing alot of shooting lately. (Keeping this gun related;) )
Sorry to hear your headed back out shortly. I might just volunteer for the next Afghani trip so I dont go stir crazy in a training squadron.
Take care and enjoy the East. Hot as Uncle Dicks hat band here.

Skunkabilly,
When I came over two years to Germany, I was not allowed to bring my firearms. And to buy one over here is such a nutroll that I think it is worse than Kalifornia...But just to hold em is heaven...H&K rules over here..:D
I left mine in a gun safe in the USA.

Since I have just over 2 years left to go before retiring. But the typical strategy is to leave the firearms here in the CONUS with family or trusted friends. Just had a major friend who got orders to Korea, he set up a partnership with a local gunshop, and bought a large safe, to keep his Garands and 1903A3's well-secured until his 2-year tour was up over there. Not a bad idea. ;)
