I have a new Glock 30 and I have read much debate over the use of less than 230gr .45 acp ammo for protection/CCW. I have picked up some PowRBall, but I would like some other suggestions as well for the best CCW ammo for a shorter barrel.
Thanks!

I'll apologize up front for the useless post, when I know what you mean.
I have a couple questions.
1. How tall are you, if you are packing a CCW with a 4 foot barrel.
2. What else do you own if your short barrels are 4 feet.
We now return you to useful posts.

corbon is fine.
180 gr is fine.
230 gr is fine.
everything that is decent brand and JHP is fine.
i carry cci blazer (yes, blazer) JHP "flying ashtray" cause i can afford to shoot enough of that one to call it reliable. and it is reliable, despite its gargantuan hollowed area.
that being said, you may want to consider something a bit heavier if you've got 4 feet of barrel to work with.

Ok ok ok... so I forgot which " or ' to use! But I do enjoy being called out for misuse of punctuation!
Thanks!

In my opinion: you've GOT the best ammo, in the Pow'R'Ball.
The only thing that comes close are the better loadings of the 185grain Gold Dot in +P flavor, such as by Georgia Arms.
Of the two, I'd go Cor-Bon. It really is a breakthrough load, in that it not only performs and feeds well, but it's "clogproof" - there's no exposed hollow to fill up with the goblin's clothing and prevent expansion.
The only flaw: being a bit light for the bore size, longer-range ballistics are going to suffer. By 50 yards it'll be noticable, although they'll probably still function. By 100 yards, I'd suspect things will seriously degrade (both speed and trajectory). But that's not what a shorty 45 is for :D.

I use 230 gr Hydra-Shoks. Extremely accurate in a 3" Kimber.

RBCD .45 Tactical is 80gr slug at 2375 fps from a 5" barrel. The 90 gr standard load is going 2036 fps from a 3.78" barrel while the 115 gr is going 1650 fps from the shorter barrel.
