I went by a local pawn shop today to see what they had and found a used 686 plus with a 2.5'' barrel. The gun looked bad had marks all over it but other wise it was in great shape, got home used some mothers polish on it , now it looks good as new

What do you think for 285 OTD :)

The 686 will be a CCW , When i find a good holster for it .. I have to wait until my gun fund builds back up ..

I carry the 642 everyday , it backs up my 686 4''

Sweeeeeeeet!

I guess I didn't realize the 686 was made in a round butt variant. Looks like a very nice woods gun or OWB CCW.

Congratulations on a great find!

If you want to get a decent leather holster for an Uncle Mike price, try Don Hume's JIT slide. Rides good on the belt for about $20. It will work for you 4" too... Won't break the bank.
Looks like you got an excellent buy on that Smith!! Congrats!!
Will this be your primary CCW?

Yes it will be my primary , in the summer time. I like to carry my 4'' when it is cooler out side. When i get a holster for my 2.5'', it might be the one i carry all the time. Im not sure if i will keep the grips that are on it now or not. I was looking at some of the Ahrends finger Groove grips a while ago on brownells website , i like the looks of the grips, but all that will have to wait until i build up my gun funds again.

researchdoc,

Thanks for the link , i like the looks of that holster i will pick one up soon.

I don't understand how people get deals like that at pawn shops. Every one I've been to has sky-high prices and frown at hagglers.:barf:

Well this was the first deal i have ever found at a pawn shop , most are way to high on there stuff, i guess this was one of the once in a life time deals.

Like i said the gun was marked up pretty bad, i guess that is why i got it so cheap , i wish i had taken a before and after pic. Mothers polish is the best thing i have found to remove marks off of stainless .

I worked on the gun for about 1hr 30min and it looks like a new one , still a couple of marks on it that mothers would not remove but i can live with them, i mean the gun is going to be a working gun, not a safe queen so i sure it will see more marks and dings down the road...
