I was wondering if anyone knows the numbers, or a link, for what percentage of the various firearm types are actually sold? For example, (blank) percentage are handguns - % semi's/revolvers, percent rifles, shotguns, military-style semi's, machine guns, etc. And not what percentage of the actual money comes from selling which firearms, but the percentage of the actual number of firearms sold, in the U.S.? I was just really curious.

Closest gathering of available information I've ever found and as you can see it's a few years in catching up (2005 latest year of info on display). Even then you'll have to do some figuring as they are listed by mfg, then by type.
I suppose that if you are a member of the NSSF, http://www.nssf.org/ you can gain some access to pertinant information concerning how many of these, how many of those, etc. Access a statistical library (see a preview) of exclusive research publications, analysis and figures before they are released to the general industry. The library includes import and hunting license sales indices, production statistics, weekly point-of-sale market updates, exclusive trade report data, and NSSF's series of "Industry Intelligence Reports" that provide the latest research on important topics in the industry.

The one problem with the ATF data is that it is only for U.S. manufacturers.

"Imports, long a part of the U.S. firearm market, are an important element in the recent sales surge. Using U.S. manufacturing data from the ATF and import numbers from the Foreign Trade Division (page 42), there were 4,858,493 firearms available for sale in the United States in 2005. "
