So I'm over visiting a friend who is a bit of a gun nut. He and I are talking and tinkering around on the 'net. His wife is with us, but goes into the kitchen to get something to snack on. Next thing we know, there's a loud CRASH! from the kitchen, and then silence.

...

"Hey, are you alright?"

"Yes. ... Who left the machine gun on the fridge?"

Yep, someone left the PPSh on top of the (rather tall) refrigerator, resting on the top of the door. Fortunately it didn't fall on her foot (or break when it hit the ground). :)

You might be a gun nut if...

In the spirit of almost every other forum I've ever posted on......inbeforetheinevitable"whothehellleavesasub-machinegunontopofhisflippinrefrigerator"comment!
I'd be a little leery of this friends gun skills after this, myself.

Anyone could leave a machine gun on the fridge. If you happen to be making a sandwich and a BG comes through the window you would be ready!

Anybody have the courage to tell her that a PPSh is an SMG not an MG?

It's a real one. And for the record, it wasn't a case of "I'll cleverly pre-position this weapon on the fridge", it was "guns are such a common household item to me that I'll just lay this down on any convenient flat space, and forget about it amongst all the other guns."

As it should be.

I was over at TheWiryIrisman's place a while back and while leaving I spotted something on the table near the door. Looked down and said "huh, a CZ-75 slide stop." He just kind of looked at me weird and started laughing. Leave it to me to identify some random gun part for a gun neither of us own. (He was cleaning it for a friend after shooting it)

As I type this, I have a knife, a cellphone, 3 handguns, a screwdriver, a digital camera, a tin of bbcaps, 16 odd loose rounds of ammo, Bushmaster owners manual, and one glock magazine that I can reach without getting up.

That's that I can see without shuffling through drawers of my desk.

You win coolness points if it's situated in such a way that your gun falls directly into your hand if you bang on a specific spot on the wall. Always wanted to do that.

Also, if you have a friend who is a pretty serious AK collector/enthusiast (he has correct slings, selector markings, mags, etc for a significant variety of AKs) and you build yourself an AK made with parts from as many different countries as possible, just to bug him every time he comes over. That poor frankenrifle has Chinese, American, Yugoslav, Romanian, East German, Russian, Bulgarian, and Hungarian components...

I had a friend exclaim, when looking for something else: "I wondered where that was...have been looking for it for months!" It was a Finnish 9mm clone of the Soviet PPS43. He left it in his workshop and it got buried under a pile of junk. Must be nice to be able to misplace submachine guns.
