Hi, everyone. I am interested in starting to target-shoot again, to stay sharp for hunting, and for plain fun. However, I am looking for some pointers on how to better my aim, and techniques with my .17 HMR, .22, and 12-ga. I saw an instructional video on youtube, but I can't find it. I appreciate any advice.

I'd get on Youtube and do a search for Blackfork6. Watch all the videos.

Just for fun I would search for: Hitler, Cowboy fan, as well and watch it.

For handgun shooting, look up Gil Hebard's website, then give him a call Monday for a catalog or do a phone order.

As for the text "Pistol Shooters' Treasury". Lots of old articles by big shooting names, many are focused on bullseye, but they still apply. When I started bullseye shooting I asked the Marine armorer and shooter who had major accomplishments in both aspects in our club for sound advice. He told to "buy this book and a spotting scope". So I did.

For the long gun, there is a text I have, but off the top of my head I don't recall the title of it. The same applies, except you are using different "platforms" since the gun is configured differently.

When you make a good shot, stop and think about what you did that helped you accomplish that and repeat it. Consistancy is a key element to good shooting.

As far as I know, Gil Hebard doesn't have a website. If you want a catalog, give them a call (309) 289-2700.

As for the Pistol Shooter's Treasury, save your money. Actually, if I hadn't already thrown my copy away, I'd send it to you.

Yep, Gil does not have a website, but he and the staff are very helpful. His catalog has most of the Bullseye basics as well as holsters, etc. and his shipping charges cannot be beat.

A second opinion on the Pistol Shooter's Treasury. Yes, the articles are somewhat dated since they were written just as red dots were becoming a std item at Bullseye matches. However, the articles do a good job of covering the basics of Bullseye shooting and apply directly to the EIC (Leg) matches that the CMP runs. When I started shooting Bullseye again after about a 12 year layoff, the first thing I did was re-read it.

You can also get a copy of the Army Marksmanship Unit's pistol book from the CMP. (www.odcmp.com) Another good read.

He must have taken down his website. It wasn't an order site, just informational and had lots of links.

+1 cdrt

Thanks

As always, I appreciate the help, everyone. I looked for Blackfork6 on youtube, but I didn't find anything. I am going to get some .22 colibris, set up a trap, and a backstop, and get better through practice, and trial-and-error, like some of you mentioned.

Start here, I guess. Maybe try Blackfork6 under "channels"

That's the leather sling instructional video. You might search for Highpower rifle, TSRA, Blackfork6, Improving your Shooting.
