Just curious, what color stock do the police use for practice shotguns? Recently pickedup a winchester 1300 defender from a friend, and for some reason the black plastic bugs me. Wouldn't mind doing a dye job on it, but want to make sure the color isnt used for something else. Besides, what could be more fun than running a 3-gun comp with a pink shotgun?

I used to manage the gunshop for a police distributor, and honestly, most departments practice with their duty guns. However, Speedfeed makes some orange stocks that are sometimes used for dedicated less lethal shotguns, ie., bean bag rounds, etc. They also made some blue ones that some larger departments used for a dedicated Simmunitions (paint marking ammo) gun. Those are the two uses of any color that I know of, however there is no rule that thats what the colors should be used for. For a match gun, go as wild as you like. I have seen some pretty unique designs on some skeet and sporting clay guns. I have seen AR15s with green, gray, pink, blue, red, yellow and even purple furniture used for match guns.

It's YOUR shotgun, paint it any way you want to.
I've camoed a few stocks by using bow paint. Flat black for a base, then making a stencil of leaves, etc, from cardboard, and hitting that with other colors.
Pink with lavender daisies, maybe.
