Can anyone post here precise instructions to reverse the magazine release to the other side of the frame on my new SP2009?
It's currently standard on the left side of the frame...

Instruction manual does not seem to address the issue, and going to Dr. Ken Lunde's site and his post there (surprisingly) is not helping me much, though there's other useful information on that site.

I found that switching the mag release on my Taruus PT92 was a PITA, but I got it done.

On the Sig SP2009, there are apparently 2 parts and 2 springs.

I haven't gone past 'trying' to depress and separate the catch 'lock' (whatever that is) from the frame.

Where do I apply pressure-to the entire unit on the right side of the frame or a portion of it? Sorry for 'dumb' questions. And once one is able to get the unit out, it it relatively easy to reassemble?

'Help Wanted' ! Full and detailed precise instructions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance.
[Being a 'southpaw' is a PITA! :) ]

The three parts are the magazine catch, mag catch spring and mag catch lock.

Good luck.

My reply:

It's a round hole on the opposite side (right side) of the gun and closer to the rear (backstrap) of the gun, and it's part of the magazine release mechanism.

You don't see it until you fully depress the magazine catch release on the left side of the firearm and look on the corresponding right side. Paper clip seemed to work fine.

The spring came out but I assume it fits in that 'slot' that apparently houses it?

And you're correct-3 parts to the mechanism. I've read 4 parts elsewhere.

Thanks again! I'll have to write Dr. Ken Lunde about this omission on his website. Then I wouldn't have had to bother all of you.

Hope this helps someone in the future.

Switching the release's orientation is probably not the best thing a southpaw gunman can do. Learning how to use the gun the way it is might save your tail one day if you have to quickly reload a gun that uses a conventional release. I've had several SIGs and never bothered to have the release orientation changed. FWIW, I know someone in the Secret Service who is also a lefty and he laughed when they offered to modify the SIG for him. It's really not necessary.
