UH OH...!
I am the voice of DISSENT...
COLT in his inherent wisdom and understanding, built the 1911 on a 5" bbl. design.
Yes, we have seen and probably owned the "Commander", "Officer" or other length of barrel and grip in 1911 form, but the TRUE 1911 IS AND WAS AND ALWAYS WILL BE THE "GOVERNMENT" 5"bbl. 1911 !
Don`t fix it if it aint BROKEN...!
JMHO :D

Its official. My guide rod is now full length.
Seriously, I put a full length guide rod in last night to replace the two piece.

A friend mated a 6" barrel to a 5" slide and it works just fine. John Browning was constantly coming up with new guns. While I stick mostly with 1911 style guns, it would be interesting to see what he would have come up with. Take Browning and Paul Mauser out of the mix and I wonder what other turn gun design might have taken.

I'm just glad its a pic of his pistol and not his custom raincoat. Matis, buck up - it's not the size of the tube, its in just the right placement. :) BTW, sweeeet pistol. I espec. like the grips, frontstrap "checkering", and front sight.

She's hot looking, but I don't think I would date a girl who is only 5" tall.

I'm not cool enough to carry a knife.
Even if I could find my "Totin'-Chit" remember those?

Um, I need help. I opened the first pic, noted the nice stocks, nice front sight and the pleasing look of extra metal out front of the dustcover. I thought to myself "Yeah, I could carry that, it's only butt length that causes concealment problems."
Nowhere in there did I see "girl" until I saw BSR's post.

Uh oh, yep I'm afraid you need some serious help there Joe. Ok, now slowly open the second pic. What do you see there? (Hint: Turn your computer monitor clockwise 90 degrees.)

90 degrees to the left? or to the right?

Yeah Mal, in the second pic I agree that it's really cheesy that a high end company like STI can't even clock the stock screws. I prefer in line with the front plane of the grip. The cut on the hammer looks nice though.
One day I'll meet a woman with the same good taste.

Excellent answer, Joe. We're making good progress here. Now on to picture number 3.
[Aside - "Nurse Ratchet, please prepare a lithium drip for the patient. I don't have a good feeling about this."]
You look hesitant Joe. Just open the picture, it won't hurt you.
