im new here, and im pretty sure im going to get flamed for this question, but here goes anyway. tomorrow, i am going to pick up my new taurus 1911. ive located a set of grips that i have already ordered, but i am looking for other ways to aesthetically modify my new gun. everything i seem to find leans towards the tactical side, while i am more interested in making it a bit more flashy. can anyone offer any suggestions of modifications or accessories? i plan on eventually having it custom engraved. i have seen on rare occasion customized butt pad/plates on magazines and i am interested in that as well. any help is appreciated.

First off, welcome to THR.
I think you can expect a bit less getting flamed then you might think. Most THR people aren't like that.

Now (and don't take this as a 'flame') I do have to say that if you're looking for a flashy gun, the Taurus 1911 is honestly kind of an odd choice. I assume you're talking about a blued version ? The bluing on the PT1911 is a pretty drab matte blue, far from flashy. Beyond that, it already comes with all the standard "upgrade" parts over a standard 1911, so there's really not much you can add to it. The only thing I can think of is maybe an S&A Mag Guide. Both functional and flashy.

Sometimes I personally find it interesting to replace the small external parts on a blued frame with polished stainless ones. I.E. mainspring housing, mag guide, safety, slide stop, barrel bushing

thanks for the welcome. i know the 1911 may be an odd choice, but it is one of the only full size pistols i have found that fit comfortably in my small hands. i do like the idea of changing the blued appointments to stainless... that would look good. im going with faux ivory grips, to offset the dark coloring. i like to personalize pretty much everything i own, so i am looking to make this gun fit my eccentric personality.

hi, welcome to thr. i was once told that any question you do not know the answer to is a good question. so ask away, i do! i do not know what is available for your gun, but something to consider is sending out some of the smaller parts to be gold plated. i have always thought that polished gold against blued steel looks very sharp.

ok, 2 things im looking for right now. first off, i need a holster that will fit my pt 1911 w/ the picatinny rail. i prefer leather. i have found alot that will fit without the rail, but im running into trouble finding one that fits with the rail. im looking for a nice leather pancake or crossdraw holster...

the other thing, may seem dumb, but if any of you have seen the movie "romeo and juliet"... all the guns in that movie have the family crests on the butt pad of the magazines... im looking for somewhere i can order some custom buttplates like that...

again, any help at all is appreciated.
