I had been expecting my CCW by Christmas time. Finally, I get around to calling the sheriff's office, yesterday. Lady answers.
"Yes? What's your name? Yes, we have your permit. It arrived just today, and I haven't had a chance to call you, yet. You can come pick it up."
Yeah, right. Just came in today. As I'm signing it I notice that the effective start date is in November. :banghead:
I briefly considered carrying, today. But my main errand was an interaction with the customer service department of a very large (and very indifferent) retail store. I decided that carrying would have curtailed my reperatoire of negotiating skills.
So I have yet to carry despite having been licensed for what.. oh, 2 months? :o

If you were expecting it around Christmas, it is your own fault for not checking on the status sooner. As for being licensed for two months, chances are you were not licensed until you actually received the permit. In other words, the license may have been issued, but not in effect until you received it.
If you are so upset about the delay, check with the licensing agency and find out when the permit was sent to the sheriff's office.

Yes, it's nacho time!
Carrying shouldn't affect your behavior other than make you less aggressive than before if you want to keep the permit.
I don't know if all states are like this, but here if you carry without your permit on your person it's the same as if you were carrying and didn't have one. I forgot to check my expiration date last renewal and had to go unarmed for 2 weeks until I got the new one in the mail (which I think is stupid since it's in their records but oh well).

Heh, I'm not mad. Actually, I still haven't carried, yet, and don't have any immediate plans. I probably have to buy a holster and even a new gun. Walmart nachos?? Yeh, why not. I'll make that my first stop when it happens. :)

Congratulations on getting your permit. Carry as often as you can because you just never know when you may need it.

^^ I like that advice. Unfortunately, I spend a good part of the year working at a teaching hospital. No firearms allowed, even in the parking lot. Furthermore, in my state there is no CCW permitted at any establishment that serves alcohol, which is practically anywhere I would go out to eat. Even the burrito joints in this town serve beer. This means that my CCW piece may actually be spending a significant amount of the little time it's away from home at the aforementioned Walmart nacho stand. :)
But just knowing that I have requested and been approved for what is my constitutionally protected right to bear arms is something I am inordinately pleased with.

Once I got my permit, I was reluctant to carry for many months. Now I carry almost regularly. You'll find that you feel naked without your gun.
