I've been toying with the idea of picking up a CZ in 9mm for some time now and jumped when spotted a used (like new), alloy frame RAMI in the case at my local Cabelas. The price was great but it was the ergos that sold me. Once I had that little chunk in my hand I just couldn't put it down. So I took it home, stripped it down, cleaned it, lubed it lightly, and headed for the range with a couple hundred rounds of 115gr Rem UMC FMJ ammo.

This little pistol points very well. I really like the way it fits my hand with the standard mag. I've got pretty meaty paws but I like the way my little finger curls under the magazine base pad. Shooting offhand with a 2-handed hold at 7 yards resulted in 3-4 inch groups that were about 4 inches high. Recoil was no problem at all. After about 40 rounds the groups seemed to settle in the center with a 6 o'clock hold.

I started getting an occasional FTF at that point as well. The Rem UMC ammo seems to be pretty dirty stuff and the feed ramp on the barrel crudded up pretty badly. I ended up stopping after about 100 rounds and decided to take it home and give it another good cleaning and application of CLP. I also got the Dremel out and polished the ramp pretty well. I'm hoping that things will settle in after a few hundred more rounds and that the FTF's will cease. Maybe the magazines will quit rattling so badly as well?

Overall, I like this pistol and look forward to breaking it in further. I'd sure like to hear from any other RAMI owners regarding their impressions and whether or not this pistol is prone to any problems that I should be aware of. I am aware of some of the issues with the RAMI in 40 S&W but this is the 9mm and it appears to be of pretty recent manufacture. Though I got it from Cabelas at a used price, it didn't appear to have ever been fired much (if any) at all. Anyway, I look forward to hearing back from any of you RAMI owners out there.

MY constant CCW piece. Does everything I need a 9mm to do.

I've got a RAMI in .40 and it is my favorite carry piece. No failures whatsoever after a couple hundred rounds of break in. Literally thousands and thousands since then.

Thanks for the replies guys. After break-in, does the RAMI stay pretty reliable even after it gets fairly dirty? Or does it need to be kept pretty clean in order to be reliable? I've got a Springfield Mil-Spec that won't miss a beat even after 500 rounds without being cleaned. I don't make it a habit to leave my guns dirty but I'm just wondering how critical cleanliness is with the RAMI.

That's a good question. I typically don't put more than 2-300 rounds through an individual weapon at one time. I always clean them fairly quickly afterward.

My wife's RAMI doesn't get shot nearly as much as the other CZs in the house, but it has been there for a while, and only choked on my early bad handloads. It is 100% now, and a good shooting beast.
You might look into the extended 14 round mag, might make a big differance for you.

Sounds like the RAMI is pretty dependable after break-in. I don't really trust any pistol until I've sent several hundred rounds down range. This one seems like it will be a pretty skookum rig once everything settles in.

BTW, Hello from Clarkston.

The Rami should suit you fine.

I've had mine for about 2 months now. I generally have the same opinions as you. The only problem I encountered was with 147 grn Winchester JHPs from Walmart. They did not feed all the time and regularly jammed on the bottom of the feed ramp. I did not try any other brands of 147 grn bullets, but went with a shorter round-124 grn Hornady XTP. I did try 135 Federal Hydas too without a problem.

I've shot Hornadys, 135 Federal Hydras, 115 JHPs and MCs UMCs, and 115 Winchester whitebox without any feeding problems or issues. I probably have1000+ rounds through it now. I do keep my guns cleaned and oiled all the time. The first time out, I put 200 rounds of 115 UMCs through it without any issues. That is probably the dirtiest that its been.

The magazine does still rattle. New, the trigger was somewhat "scratchy". It seems to be smoothing out or at least I haven't noticed it in a while. In all I really like this pistol. It conceals well, and I can shoot it very well.
