Who's got a Yugo Mauser? Like it? How's the fit and finish, accuracy, etc.?

I have a Yugo 24/47. I ordered it from JGSales.com.

The fit is excellent, better than most of my milsurps, for sure. The trigger is good, and the metal is in great shape. The wood is fine, a dark wood like the Yugos love to use.

It is not particularly accurate. I have shot it with (Matched, not repacked) WWII Nazi ammo and I and two others could not hit a three by two foot target at 100 yards every time- roughly 50%. With S&B 8mm ammo it will put all of its shots in about 4-5 inches or so from the same distance.

It was positively gunked up when I received it. When the trigger was depressed, the cocking indicator would slowly slide into the bolt. However, after a thorough soaking in mineral spirits it cleared up.

Decently hard kicker, but not bad.

I have a VZ2452c Mauser. I think they were made in Czechoslavakia (you try to spell it) and later fell in Yugoslavian hands were it was refurbished and had the Yugo commie crest stamped on the receiver ring. I'm not quite sure if this story is correct but I'm sure somebody will correct me. It is a little beat with not so perfect bore but it is an accurate shooter with Romanian surplus. The last time I shot it I was getting 2 to 3 inch groups. That is more than exceptional accuracy for its age and what it was originally designed for.

If only somebody would find another wharehouse full of several milion rds of surplus ammo and sell it for 10 cents around so I can shoot it more.:(

I got one from Big 5 for $100. Wonderful shooter. Finish close to 85%. Wood very sound. Ran some Winchester rounds through it with good results, but didn't take the time to measure it.

I got my Yugo M24/47 from Big 5, as well. Stock in excellent condition, metal also excellent, except for almost no blueing left. It's a good, solid shooter. My German '44 BCD K98 is more accurate, and so is my Czech VZ24, but the Yugo was cheaper and is in better condition. Not bad for $99.

I paid $130 for my 24/47 a couple years ago. The metal was like new with a bright shiny bore. The wood was soaked in cosmoline. I get about 4" groups with it using 50's Yugo surplus.

The Yugo 24-47's are generally good buys.... There are some stinkers, but most are pretty good shooters. I own a couple....

Best,

My 24/47 shoots minute of palm's width at 100 meters. That's acceptable to me for its age and the fact that I am shooting surplus ammo.

Got an un-issued Yugo M48a with all the extras 5 years ago this month. Actually has a blonder stock then most of the ones I've seen. Great rifle, just can't shoot it properly to gain the full accuracy :(

The m48s can be good shooters with handloads. I almost gave up on mine until I tried handloads in it. The fit and finish are typical communist fare- good enough but not spectacular- definately not in the same league as German or Czech 98s.
