Just giving my opinion----you should probably hold out for something better---if already purchased----take it back and get your money back.

On my 10/22. I think that it is fine for what I use it for and never have a hard time getting a clear sight picture or hitting where I aim.

That said, I dont usually shoot over 30 yards so I don't know how well it will do "way out there." My guess is that you will be firing your 270 well past 30 yards so you may want to get something of better quality (Leupold, Nikon, or the Bushnell Elite series).

Again, for the 70 bucks I paid for it and for what I need, I am very happy with the Banner but I do realize that there are much better scopes out there and if I had a 270 I would pay for something of better quality.

Bushnells and Tasco are the absolute bottom of the line. I'd make sure your iron sights on the rifle are well zeroed in case the scope breaks in the middle of a hunting trip or something.

Like a previous poster, I also have a Bushnell Banner on my 10/22. Though nominally a "centerfire" rifle scope, it's more appropriate on a plinker. I will say it's noticeably better than the Chinese and (hideously overpriced) Romanian crap being sold today.

BUT . . . for all my centerfire rifles and pistols, I chose Leupold.

"...Bushnells and Tasco are the absolute bottom of the line..." Especially as Tasco is out of business. Bushnell's are ok, but not great. Their 'Banner' line is their low end scope. You may want to go up a few levels though. If you can afford a bit more money. If not, put the Banner on it and expect to buy another scope in a few years.

"To our valued customers:

The Tasco® trade name has been acquired by Bushnell Performance Optics.

We will re-launch this web site soon with the new Tasco product line."

They're back.

If the Bushy was made in China, it's substandard, no question about it.

If it's a Korea make, it'll likely serve you well, but a Leupold "Rifleman" for around 200 bucks would trounce it...

The Japan Bushnells are all pretty good, and in my opinion are comparable to Leupolds quality-wise.

Of course the old Bausch & Lomb scopes are now Bushnell Elites, and these are some of the finest scopes this side of a grand...

For what it's worth, I'm still trying to break a 4X China Tasco on my BAR-22 so's I can put a "good" scope on it. It just keeps hanging in there... :p

Bushnells and Tasco are the absolute bottom of the line.

I really like my Bushnell Scopechief. They are discontinued now, but I think they are what the Elites were. Not sure. They were on closeout from Natchez Shooting Supplies. Mine is a 6-20x40 AO model. Great scope.

Well I have had pretty good luck with the top end Tasco scopes, pretty good scope for the price as they have good sight pictures and hold up well. As for the Bushnells I put them on the .22s as I have 3 dead ones that got killed by 30-06 and 8mm rifles. The really cheep Tascos are not that great but a world class is a decent scope. I have seen a lot of Redfeilds not hold up or have as good a sight picture as some Tascos.

I don't know about the outfitter. In general, I think Simmons are a cut above Bushnell.
However, I think you're better off buying a low end Leupold for a few bucks more. Cheap scopes will fail and according to Murphy's law they'll do so at the worst possible moment.

Most of these really cheap scopes (Tasco, Bushnell, Simmons, etc) look fine optically, but they cut corners on the internals. They aren't sealed well and the moving parts inside are plastic that will fail when the rifle is fired enough times.

You can buy a 3x9 Leupold Vari X I for about $200! So why mess with the cheap stuff?

My advice is to spend the extra $100. You'll spend in anyway to replace the cheap scope when it breaks a year or so from now. Check out the link:
