I just got back from one of the local shops and I need some information regarding a pistol I drooled over.
A Rock Island "Mil-Spec" 1911a1 for $379.99. I looked on their web page and couldn't find any mention of it to compare MSRP etc. It's a real basic 1911a1, dark green park finish and simple wood grip panels.
IAny information/opinions out there oh great and knowledgeable Gun Guru's?
*Correction* My Bad, It's a Rock Island Not Rock River, this was my Homer moment for the day
TIA
Rob

A Rock River Arms "Mil-Spec" 1911a1 for $379.99.
Are you sure that is a Rock River gun and not a Rock Island Armory?
Rock Rivers usually command a pretty good premium and are kinda hard to get. I had thought there was even a waiting list for Rock River guns.
If it is a Rock Island, here is a nice little review. http://www.sightm1911.com/lib/review/RIA.htm

You are probably confusing Rock River Arms (neato) and Rock Island Armory (third world slag).

Definitely a mixup. If that's a real Rock River, buy it and I'll buy it from you at twice the price if you don't like it.

They are rumored by 99 % of the people who shoot/own them to be good guns. I wish they came like in the old pictures yould see in the shotgun news....lowmount sights and extended controls...nice.
You can do alot worse for that you pay for them....and its a good place to start tweaking it to your liking also.
Shoot well

The RI 1911's seem to be okay guns. Because frames & slides aren't available in CA, they make a nice inexpensive base for a custom build. I know one guy w/ one & he really seems to like it.
