WOULD ALSO LIKE OPINIONS FROM OTHER MEMBERS
I've seen questions & topics that seem to be pretty specific to concealed carry in a lot of different places in the forum I was wondering about the possability of a sub-forum devoted specifically to CCW. Thanks in advance for your input

What about just 'carry' since some of us don't conceal?

I like the current intermingling and think a dedicated CCW subforum would be a mistake.

One of the problems that has bit us, as gun owners, is the tendency of certain people to think that they are very pro-gun but turn around and say, "I don't see why anyone but cops need handguns... they're no good for hunting."

I think the other side also exists... there are people who want a powerful concealed manstopper handgun and the rest of the shooting world can go hang. To them a beautifully finished and cared for gun is alien and pointless, just one more thing to be worried about people stealing.

By holding both sporting and practical firearms discussions in the same forum(s) we give each group a chance to experience and gain from the perspective of the others.

Seems like a win/win.

+1.

I vote with Ed on this. Narrowing forums further to accommodate each special interest reduces the debate and ideas to a narrow discussion among fewer and fewer members. I am not sure that lines, up philosophically, with the spirit of THR.

I'm one of those who's primary interest is in firearms for self/family defense. As long as I can get what little meat I eat from another source I don't care ( & really can't afford ) to hunt. That said I respect the rights of those who enjoy doing so. I think the type of shooter who has absolutely no interest outside of CC isn't going (IMO) to read any other type thread anyway. FWIW My vision is one folder where a CC shooter can look for practical carry advise, the latest developement in accesories, lessons learned and forth. I think it would be a very heavily trafficed subforum.

I gotta say Ed seems to be onto something, I'm gonna have to get in the not a great idea camp. not that it couldn't be, but when i first started lurking here i definitely had my preconceived interests, but have since expanded due to the variety of information in each forum.

I consider the High Road a general gun forum, if you intrests are strictly concealed carry there are forums just devoted to that. I am a member of several gun forums and gather different info from each of them.

There are quite a few CC forums out there, we will let them deal with the nittygritty of CC and it's laws and weapons.
