Has anyone tried Wolf .223 55 grain JHP?

I have a Mini-14 and the thought occured to me that this would make good defensive ammo if it expands/fragments. From what I understand, Wolf 55 grain FMJ has a thick jacket which is unlikely to fragment.

I have used a lot of it in my .223 AK variant (SAR-3). I have no idea whether it fragments or not. It does not have a cannelure, which is supposed to help fragmentation.

It does make milk jugs explode rather convincingly, though...so maybe it does.

It is about the least accurate .223 ammo I have tried. It has been completely reliable in my AK (which was designed for it). But there are a number of report on AK-47.net about AR-type rifles choking on it. My hunch is the tighter AR chamber, coupled with Russian QC on sizing, leads to some sticking.

Not sure how it will work in an Mini-14. Try it. Won't cost much

I'd imagine bullet ''performance'' would be quite ..... ''useful'' tho fragmentation? Not sure but doubt it.

I use this thru my Mini and ... grouping?? It doesn't!!:D If I compare with, say - American eagle ..... THEN I get quite a good group.

For sheer plinking pleasure tho .... well, it's so cheap.:)

I got 3 boxes of the Wolf .223 FMJ which I plan to try out in the next week. If it works ok I'll probably get some JHP. For CQB it doesn't need to be all that accurate.

I have shoot a lot or Wolf .223 in my mini-14 and never had a problem:) .
