if you were going to load 45ACP 230GR JHP what powder would you use?

My P220 SD rounds use Speer 230 Gold Dots over stout charges of AA#5. Another batch for my 1911A1 use max charges of WW 231. Lots of good choices out there in the medium/medium slow burning range.

Personally I use 6.2 to 6.5 grs of Unique.

6.5 to 6.8gr of Power Pistol. Gives 850+ fps without excessive pressure. Burns clean too.

Something I have done. 230 gr. Rem. Golden Saber with Ramshot True Blue. Very low flash and can give you +P velocity without +P pressure. AA#5 is also a very good choice for the same reason. Another powder I've used to get higher velocity without exceeding standard pressure is V-V 3N37, but data is hard to come by.;)

Watch out now. Some folks will tell you that you'll be the target of an overzealous DA if you use anything but factory ammo for SD/HD loads. Nevermind that nobody has produced any evidence of such happening.
