Let's stop kidding ourselves...we all know that "F" doesn't stand for finest. ;)

I don't own one, but I would love to. It's like a giant Blackhawk, what could be better than that? :D

Mmm-hmm...I don't really buy "Finest" as their intended middle word, whatever they claim.

You mean like THIS?

Yes, it's mine.
YES, the "F" stands for something that is not family friendly or "G" rated.
YES, it hurts.
YES, it is well built, a freakin tank as a matter of fact.
YES, it was worth it.
YES, I am an idiot for buying this in a 500, but I never claimed to be a genius.
YES, I would buy another.
NO, I will not sell you mine ;)

I have 2. A 45-70 and a .475. Well built with a good trigger. For the price they are hard to beat. They seem to stand up well to a pounding. I personally have not run enough rounds thru one to really say definitively.

If you want a mega boomer I think the X-frame guns are a little more ergonomic and they have a DA trigger. You will pay more for them, however.

A friend has one in 45-70. AWSOME! It has a 9 1/2" barrel, shoots VERY accurately and the recoil is surprisingly mild. Big, slow muzzle rize and BACK-PUSH as opposed to a quick and snappy recoil. Great hunting arm!

Beyond my ability of rationalization... Not that I don't want one.

I have owned a Magnum Research BFR in .45/70 for a number of years, and absolutely love it, particularly for hunting Russian hogs in Tennessee (in fact, it is my chosen weapon for a trip I have planned in the near future). I shoot 405 grain jacketed soft-point bullets at a muzzle velocity of approximately 1350 fps (reloads), and it is sweet. Very accurate. And not near so punishing as you might think. It feels almost like black powder...more a push than a slap to the hand. Which is not something that can be said of the .50 Smith & Wesson magnum.

I strongly recommend the BFR, particularly in .45/70.
