Could it have been the superbowl???? Is it possible that most of the country shut their puter down to watch it and then cranked that puppy up when the excrement starting hitting the fan in the last moments of the game?????????:D

I don't think it was from shutting them down. Just the opposite. I know there were quite a few people at home and work watching it on their pc. I know of three pc's that had the game going at work. All that streaming video would account for a lot of used up bandwidth making for a slow internet connection for everyone around the country. That would be my guess.
