So my local gun shop is having a big sale on handguns, Dealer Cost + $10. What would you buy? I need to see some ideas and reasons, just to help my brain along...

Whatever has been on my short list...maybe a HK Tactical, another P7M8, a S&W 629, a nice bolt action 308...hey, you're in AZ! I'd throw in an AR :D

Ah yes...the famous AR handgun. :neener:

I'd buy a Para-Ordnance CCW (SWEET trigger - nice gun) or maybe a Springfield XD. The Para will cost you more.

WKW - which shop is this, 'zackly? Share the wealth, buddy...

If'n I had the $$, I'd go for that Sig 220 I've always wanted, maybe a nice Springfield or Kimber, or even the S&W 1911, or a replacement Glock 23, possibly an HK USP Compact. As it is, though, I just might be able to afford a new Makarov at dealer + $10.

My collection is missing ...

Browning Hi Power
Walther PPK
Colt SAA
Glock 19
H&K P7M8
Beretta 92FS
Ruger MK II
Kahr PM9
S&W 19
Ruger Birdshead Vaquero

Wait, did I mention that I only have one gun: Colt 1991A1 NRM :D

I would be pretty happy with that collection!

I would make sure that the prices are actually cheaper than normal. I've seen some guns going for "dealer cost" that are pretty steep.

what sort of money are you looking at spending? what do you already have. that would make recommendations easier. Having said that I would buy anything that I didn't already have.

I would not be afraid to plunk down money for almost any SIG, CZ, Berreta, Glock, Kimber, HK, etc. That is if I could stop buying cheap guns every time I get a few hundred in my pocket. If there was only one gun I could have It would have to be a SW 686 6inch. If you don't have one you should.

Kor - West of the Pecos, until Sunday. Sadly, it's not every single gun. I know the XD's weren't on sale. But only until Sunday, I am going to go check it out.

DigMe - Para Ordnance, Carry Option with the 3 inch or the 3.5 inch barrel, just handled one at that shop last week, that's one I am going to go check the price on.

Their prices have always been good... heck, my wife bought a gun and then they had a sale the next week, they gave us some ammo to make up for the bad timing!

Already have a USP40, Glock22, could use another 1911 to provide company for my Charles Daly... Kimber Eclipse or Para Ordnance?

Kor, go shop man! Take some guns away! I know they had the SW1911 the other day...

IMO, if this is a once in a very long time sale, I would opt to get the most expensive item as you can afford. That is, if the dealer normally sells at a precentage level over cost. (i.e., the more expensive the item, the higher the dealer take.)

I prefer the Para CCW. It's larger than the Carry with a 4.25" barrel but still thin and seems surprisingly concealable. This is just from my handling and ogling of it in the store. After I'd checked it out for a while one of the older guys told me that it's his full time carry gun and very comfortable. And once again...that trigger is straight butter.

Well, got a Para Carry C6.45 for a song... wanted it last week when it was marked 799.99 and since the sell was going on, it was 641.99

I think I did okay! And now I have a 1911 style for concealed carry, and to say hi to my Charles Daly.

They said they sold 12 Kimber Eclipses... so couldn't get one of those... :(

Sweet! That's about 300 under MSRP right? I wish I had one!

Yeah, MSRP is like $927.

I remember saying to myself, there is a nice gun I will never get because it just seems like too much money for something that small...

Well, if I didn't get it for that price right then, I would have been kicking myself when I pawed at them back at their normal $800 price.

But I did almost get the Satin Nickel CZ 75 for $341 and a Lever Action 30-30 for $274... it was hard to choose one gun over two...

I hope they do a sell like that again next year. They said they just plain had too many guns and had to get rid of some. Too bad... :)
