Apoligies from a Glockster.

February 4, 2008, 06:16 PM
I have started a few threads on here that have started arguements, and insults. I apoligize. I am a fan of many autopistols, especially the 1911. I choose to carry a glock, I am a Glock fan, I LOVE Glocks! I have however, intentionally stirred the "pudding" on this site and I have come about a change of heart in regards to my threads, and posts. I believe that everyone on here is a patriot, a concerned American, and a lost breed. So if you carry a gun that I don't like, I am happy that you choose to carry, and would rather have you behind me in line at the gas station, then a non-carrying liberal sissy. Please accept my sincere apologies.

Well, um ... thank you, Steve. As one who sparred with you in your two threads, just want to point out (to paraphrase Clint Smith and others) that it's the software (between one's ears) that's important, not the hardware (the gun in your holster or hand). FWIW, some of my best friends pack Glocks, and I still want them with me when I go in harm's way with my 1911.

BTW, I still intend on getting in the mix of these threads, but I am not looking to diss anyone on here.

Nice sincere apology. Very High Road of you.

Some of my best friends shoot Glocks. I even have 'em over for dinner. I just wouldn't let me sister marry one.:p

I thought a little levity would be appropriate.

I thought flaming people for their person choices was an american way. I personly have sti legacy, wilson combat, but my favorite is my g23 which I carry daily and shoot 20X more than all my other gun combined. keep up the flaming it's cheap enterantment.

Thanks! I've become pretty annoyed with the Glock vs. 1911 flame wars here lately myself. It's nice to see the spirit of "The High Road" is still strong and that we gun owners do stick together!

It would be nice to see the flames die down. Glocks are very good guns; they are just not the ONLY good guns.

Well, there's flaming and then there's ragging. I'm pretty sure a gun owner can't call himself such unless he's able to good-naturedly rag on his buddies and their favorite firearms, and take the same in kind. It was this way at the informal bowling pin matches I used to attend, and at most informal matches, I'm sure.

Overheard about someone with a lever-action at the match: "Nice muzzleloader, Eddie! Good luck!" The appropriate grin-sneer was returned. Lever-man was a pretty fast shooter!

Overheard about a Mosin shooter: "Why don't you just fix a bayonet and push the bowling pin down!"

One of my personal favorites was a comrade (an HK fanboy) who offered some completely straight-faced deadpan "helpful advice" to someone experiencing a jam with his AR... "Did you slap the mag in hard enough? Are you sure you pushed the forward bolt assist? Maybe you had a little fouling in the chamber? Wrong powder for the gas system?"

Plastic is fantastic. I mean, who cares if your pistol melts into a puddle of plastic if left in the direct sunlight, (and looks better than it did before.) And wood is good, too. Who cares whether your favorite pistol can only stay in a fight for 8 rounds without reloading. Everyone knows that criminals pass out at the mere sight of the mighty 1911 anyway. ; )

(Not a huge Glock or 1911 fan myself, but a few lighthearted jabs never hurt.) I'll be the first to criticize some of my favorites.

As for me, I don't know anyone who owns a Glock. Why anyone would want to is beyond me when you can own a 1911 and have a real handgun.

Just joking!!! :neener:

Glocks, Colts, Knockoffs of either one... Theyre all pretty much on a level playing field.

If lead goes downrange on a regular basis, it works well enough for me.

Thats why I like Ruger.:neener:

I'd like to remind everyone of this stickied thread from March 2007 (http://thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=265428), and this stickied thread from April 2005 (http://thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=133354). They still apply.
