I need a sort of tackle box for my gun care paraphernalia, and would like to know what you people use, and more importantly, what can you recommend. I need one for three handguns (two are the same caliber, 9mm) and a rifle (.223).
I don't need anything fancy, just...a place for my stuff. Pics welcome. Thanks.

I have the big MTM case with the red rifle rest that sits on top and I love it. It holds everything I need and more and makes it easy to take it to the range. http://www.mtmcase-gard.com/

I have a set up like the black tackle box case with the red unit on top. The carry handle comes through the center and the uprights to hold the gun fit down into to clear slide top areas on gun rest.

26" heavy plastic toolbox from Home Depot/Lowe's holds most stuff. I use a Sinclair cleaning rest, and either PVC or metal rod holders for my one-piece cleaning rods.

Surplus ammo can. One of the very tall ones.

I have a "rod holder" (like for fishing rods) in my armoury for my different cleaning rods.

I use a tacklebox with a complete stocking for all calibers and SG's, for on the go. I've got a dedicated table for cleaning also stocked for all. I restock the table from tacklebox, then restock tacklebox.

I had the sheet metal shop make me up a couple soaking pans, one small, one long and they even welded up the seams to be fluid tight so I can fill it up with cleaner/Simple Green to let stuff soak, if needed.

No pics right now, maybe later.

I bought a cheapie orange toolbox at Home Depot, and it seems to do the trick for 2 handguns and a shotty. I guess I might eventually outgrow it though:rolleyes:

I use a Plano tool box. Four drawers with dividers to keep bore brushes & jags seperated, lots of room for everything else too.

Big yellow tool box from home depot.

Tray up top for brushes and such and the bottom area for bottles, sprays
and tools.

The top of the lid has several small doors which are perfect for different size patches.

I keep most of my stuff in a fisherman's tackle box. The lure compartments are just right for things like different size brushes, mops, & jags, I can keep new ones in one tray and used ones in another, there's room for a few basic, commonly used things like toothbrushes, picks, screwdrivers, and allen wrenches . . . it's not perfect, but it works for me.

Over the years, I've outgrown a tackle box, a medium-sized tool box, and a large tool box, plus, of course, the range box and assorted tool boxes—but I'm not a gadget junkie.

I like the Plano 757 tackle box for storing small tools, jags, brushes, stones and such. The top section will hold a bench block, small screwdriver set, hex wrench set and a hammer with some room left over. I found mine on sale locally for $21.

I also have an MTM thingie, a regular tackle box and a small two-door floor chest at the end of the workbench for the bulky stuff.

I use a 10" x 8" x 16" tupperware type box with a lid, but I like your idea better.

Went to Wally World., bought a black Black & Decker tool box. About 20 inches long, 10 or 12 inches deep and maybe eight inches wide.

Holds all my range ammo, earmuffs, cleaning gear, paper targets, staple gun and towels for my elbow at the bench rest.

Cost? I think it was about nine bucks.

It gets used quite a bit. Works very well. You are right....the red is a bit bright and not very stealthy...but it works like a charm. ;) They make one with a handle on it that fits on top of a tool box like thing....would probably suit the original poster better.

I am also an ammo can user, but I use one of the short ones. (standard width, not the narrow ones)

It is getting pretty full, though.

The cleaning rods are sectional, so they fit in there too.

I would buy a cleaning kit and then another(different calibers). Went to a friends place and saw the cleaning kit of my dreams. I just had to have one. I told the wife of this kit, showed her the Midway sales mag. Wife says you should buy that. Everything in one place. I love it.

I use the MTM boxes, one for pistol, one for rifle, and a tackle box for the AR. Got too much cleaning stuff.
