Kinda weak unless you get the cylinders bored out to hold more powder, something some of the custom guys do. It's still marginal, though, about 550 ft lbs with a 220 round nose or a ball. That is not my idea of the perfect hunting projectile, but under 50 yards and put in the right spot (the ROA is very accurate), it would do the job I'm sure. I have better handguns. I'd carry my ROA as back up to my hawken if doing a BP only hunt, but I don't know if you could convince me to use it as a primary. LOL I prefer more overkill for a clean kill, personally. It ain't so much the energy level as the lack of a decent flat point bullet to use in it. Now, given a Keith style SWC profile bullet, I'd be a little happier with the use of it. Still, .357 or .45 Colt are challenge enough for me. ROFL!
