I just finished the move to Little Rock, Arkansas over the weekend. I've seen listings for several shooting ranges in the area, but don't know which are good/reputable. Also, if you can recommend any local organizations/clubs/meetups in the area, it would be appreciated.

Don's Weaponry in NLR on Hwy 70 has a decent indoor range. There's a Fish & Game outdoor range near Conway. It's nice if you can deal with all the restrictions. There are a few IPSC and IDPA clubs around - you can find those through the main organization websites.

Remington has a trap/skeet range in Lonoke (east on I-40 towards Memphis).

I threw my own trap every once in a while on Holland Bottoms WMA. You can find WMA maps and Google Earth overlays here: http://www.agfc.com/data-facts-maps/maps.aspx

I go to the game and fish range in Mayflower. $2 to shoot all day, Fudd rules. No rapid fire, etc...They have a 50 yard pistol range, 200 yard rifle range and a skeet spot too which I have never used...

Can rent a spotting scope for $2.

Welcome to the South my friend!

To expand on Jimmie's post:

Don's Weaponry in NLR off of Broadway has the only indoor pistol range I know about. I try to avoid it as much as possible, as I really don't like Don's. Poor service, absurd prices, rude employees. The folks that work there are the classic holier/smarter than thou gun shop employees. However, the range is open until 9 most nights. Their range is an 8 position indoor range ammo only, max 25 yards.

I do most of my rifle and pistol shooting at the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission range outside of Mayflower. The facility is great, the rules are kind of stupid, and the dude that works there is a real moron. He makes up for his disability by being a nitpicking tyrant. The only amusing bit I've had with him is he likes to use the term prima facia, but has no idea what it means. Whatever you do, if you're shooting any autoloading weapon there, make sure the chamber's clear and there are no loaded mags in the same bag as the weapon. This also goes for your CCW weapon. There are no holstered weapons allowed on the range. Stop on the road outside the gate, drop your mags, remove your holster, put the pistol in your gun rug and the mags in a bag.

Facility wise, they have 1 trap field, 1 skeet field, 18 position pistol (15, 25, 35, 50 yards), and 16 position rifle (out to 300 yards). Not to mention, it's hard to beat a range fee of $2 for targets, tape, ears, eyes, and a spotting scope.

IDPA there are a couple of options. First is the CASA range (http://casarange.com/index.htm) west of Little Rock. I've only been here once, and it seemd nice enough, but I live in Conway, and it's just too far for me to drive.

I drive up to Heber Springs to the Cleburne County Shooting Club (http://www.cleburne-shooters.com/). I like the facility, and the people.

Shotgun wise, you have the Remington Arms range that Jimmy mentioned. It's got GREAT facilities, and their selection of loner guns is fantastic. Not to mention, good people.

Then there's the Blue Rock Sportsman's Club in NLR next to the river. I've never shot here, so I really don't know anything about it.

The big dog in clays is Sanders LaGrue Sporting Clays outside of Stuttgart. Wonderful facility, great people, and well organized. I especially liked their 5 stand setup, and am looking forward to shooting some FITASC there.

There are some other clubs in Benton and down toward Hot Springs, but as I live in Conway, I'm just not driving that far.

Let me know if there is anything else you want to know.

Thanks guys, and thanks to all the WA folks I left behind. Family was/is here, so here I came.

Sounds to me like things are more restrictive at the ranges here, but I'll have to see for myself.

Just wanted to say thanks to all who've helped me find gun shops and ranges in the area. I've been to Don's a few times, and although not cheap they are polite, accomodating and convenient (open until 9PM!). I haven't been to the AGFC range near Mayflower yet but I intend to check them out soon.

Here are some pictures from today at the AGFC Peeler Gap range. Lots of nice quiet and cool weather today in between shooting strings.

My wife and I are about to join the Benton Gun Club. They have a really nice private(except for matches) outdoor range. They also hold matches in more disciplines than the other gun clubs around here. www.bentongunclub.org. My wife grew up shooting small bore silhouette and that's the only club around here that does that. Everything else is action shooting, which they do as well.

Welcome to Arkansas from a guy in Conway. Come by Krispy Kreme and say howdy sometime.
