The 1911 has been my favorite for 50 years, I was slow to accept the Glocks, however, the Glock 23 is my usual carry handgun. Yesterday, I decided to do a comparison, using a Kimber Classic Gold Match, a Glock 17, a Glock 23 [both Glocks use the standard 5.5 connector, polished} and a CZ83 in .380 , and last, a Dan Wesson 357 with a 6" barrel with a full length under lug. The results were interesting: firing 6 rounds as fast as target is regained from 7 yards, scoring was done after judging the "tightest groups, and the fastest time. Best Group was, Kimber, followed by, CZ83, Dan Wesson 357 revolver, Glock 23 and last Glock 17 The "fastest" time was the CZ83 by a large margin, followed by the Kimber, the Dan Wesson , and the Glocks. While I like the finish and simplicity of the Glocks, I may have been carring the Wrong handgun for my ability or disability! The CZ83 is very accurate and smooth, the Dan Wesson has been smoothed up, is very accurate and the barrel weight keeps me on the target, the Dan was shooting 125 gr hp at 1800 feet per second. Quite a load! What have been your comparison observations?

Yeah, what was fastest?
I'd cross-ref speed with accuracy, and go for the one in the middle.

Best group with the Kimber, and second fastest time with the Kimber. Best time with the CZ, and second best group with the CZ. Sounds like you just narrowed your carry gun down to 2 choices. Either the CZ for very small carry piece or the Kimber if you have a bit more to work with while concealing.
Why would you carry something that was less than the best that you had? Something that was less than the thing that would protect you the best?

I agree, now what do I do with a case of .40 cal. hollowpoints? Does anyone make a moonclip revolver for .40 SW ? Oh well, I'll likely keep the Glocks, I would just buy another. They do have a place, right?

S&W makes the 610. Great .40 S&W moon clip gun.

Glocks are more difficult to shoot well. Some people manage it magnificently. I do not.

Glocks do give me more problems than other handguns, Glocks previously shot low and left, until some infomation from Sportshooter.com helped me correct. But --------- the 1911 is still KING !
