Simonich or Strider?

Now, I'm not all that close to getting one, but a high-quality custom fixed blade knife is third on my list after a Surefire flashlight (not sure which model yet) and a Benchmade 940 osborne. So, I've narrowed it down to two options I like, a Simonich Raven Combat (http://www.simonichknives.com/midtech.htm) and a Strider MT or Mark I (http://striderknives.com/html/main.html). What are your opinions on these two knives? Which one would you recommend?

Of those two? Well, I'd rather have the Simonich, if only because the maker is such a character... ;)
Why have you narrowed it down to those two, if you don't mind my asking?

Well, I haven't done much research, but they just look like the best knives. Plus, they are well known brands that many people trust.

Oh, I think Busse, Chris Reeves and a few others make knives that might fit that bill, too.
Were you going to get a Simonich Mid-Tech, or an honest-to-Rob custom?
(I have a Simonich mid-tech, but it's so tiny it fits on my keychain. :D )

Bitterroot?
I've been debating whether or not I should get one. I don't need to be purchasing any knives right now, but it's inexpensive and just darn cute.

I'd be getting a Mid-tech, not only because of the price, but because he says on his site (http://www.simonichknives.com/) that he will not be taking custom orders right now. But the mid-tech knives are close enough to custom, and they are still good. Either that or a Strider. The Chris Reeves Green Beret might be an option, but I just like the asthetic appeal of the Simonich or the Strider.

Nah, rinaldi knives are ugly.
Skunky: I mean a strider fixed blade. That is one cool folder, though. One cool $400 folder, I might add. $75 more than the MT fixed blade.
Also, one question about the Striders, what's the difference, between the MT and the Mark-1 that makes the Mark-1 $100 more? I like the look of the Mark 1 more, but I can't see what makes it $100 more. Same steel, same blade length.

Speaking of which, I just so happen to be selling a pretty rugged fixed-blade knife in my sig line. (Ever hear of Steve Corkum?)

If you're considering knives at that price you should realy look at customs.
Breed can make a custom damascus the same size as either knife for the same price. That's with your tweaks on what you want it to look like and with handle material that you pick.
I've got an 800 layer damascus blade, orange peel damascus bolster, carbon fiber scale on Ti liners folder on the way from him and it's not going to cost more than the Strider. You can get so much more from a custom maker.
That being said, I prefer Rob's knife on asthetics alone. When you add materials, fit, finish and the edge geometry you've got a great product. The Strider is one of their "nicer" designs, but not to my tastes.
Tam,
What you mean sellin' the Corkum?!! He don't make that model any more and your's has a great temper line to boot. You sell that puppy off and there won't be no more to get.

If you wanted a crow bar with a good edge and point that you'll abuse without thought, you'll probably want the Strider, but if you want something with a little more personality - this is just my opinion - but the Siminoch is the way to go. I think Rob is turning out some of the nicest bowies on the market.

Strider Knives for me, but I'll take a Simonich if I couldn't get a Strider.
