I know that a longer firing pin is available for the 625 - it is a floating firing pin. Does anyone offer a longer firing pin for the older S & W 25s? I am talking about the guns with the firing pin affixed to the hammer.

I have never heard of one.
Nor have I ever heard of a need for one.

What is the problem with the one you have?

rc, I don't know that I have a problem with what came on the gun, but I noticed that Cylinder and Slide offer a longer firing pin for the 625 so I thought I would inquire if a longer one is also available for the 25-2. I don't have a 625 (but I know they use a floating pin) but I have two (2) 25-2s and, after thousands of rounds, it occured to me that the pin (attached to the hammer with a "pin") might wear, bend or otherwise require replacement.

If so, I wanted to know what my options were.

I think the new frame mounted factory length pin was giving ignition problems with moon-clipped .45 ACP in guns that had the mainspring lightened a bunch for competition.
My stock 625-6 has been 100% with the factory mainspring, even without clips.

I have never heard of a old-style hammer FP wearing out as to length, or bending.

They very seldom even break, unless an awful lot of dry-firing is involved.

I have never heard of an S&W hammer nose bending or wearing down in normal use. They do occasionally break in dry firing , but most damage is done by people trying to "improve" them in some way.
