I recently bought a wasr rifle (7.62 x 39 double stack) and when cleaning it noticed that the gas piston has a noticable curve to it. Is this normal? A problem?
Thanks.

it shouldnt have a curve, but it should have "wiggle room" that being the piston should seem loose and wiggly to able to adjust its selfs to pop into the gas port.

wasrs are really a "it aint supposed to be like that... but it works" gun

Curved?! Can you post a picture. Do you mean canted(pointing to one direction)? If that is the case, it is a common problem on WASRs and an easy fix. WASRs are great guns for the money.

If it is pointing in one direction, here is the fix http://www.gunsnet.net/Linx310/fsbcantfix.htm

The OP is talking about his gas piston http://www.blackjackbuffers.com/images/AKpiston.jpg

not his front sight block http://www.gunaccessories.com/AK47-MAK90/ak167b.jpg

A "curved" gas piston is either a) horribly manufactured or b) attached in a haphazard manner to the bolt carrier.

We await pictures or further info from the OP...

If it is the gas piston, they are available all over the net for relatively low prices. Bit of a pain to remove, but doable.
