Customer Service

Hi
My name is Justin and am fairly new to The Highroad; this is my first new thread. Anyway, one topic that had not been broached (to my knowledge) was who, amongst handgun manufacturers, provides the best customer service? In the past I have been told good things about Smith and Wesson and bad things about Beretta. Is there anybody here that could shed some light on the situation?
Thanks.

I've been doing this gun shootin' thing for a lot of years and I've found the best customer service to be Smith & Wesson. S&W will pay shipping both ways (many companies won't do that and shipping can easily be $50 Fed Ex or UPS) and get the gun in and out of the shop ASAP. I have personally seen S&W replace a worn out .38 that they determined not worth repairing (an old farmer had used it for 50 years to kill hogs). They have never let me down or left me expecting more. And that's good enough for me:).

Sigarms/Sig-Sauer has taken care of me well. I had to return a new gun three times, and they gave me a new one after the third time. Then the replacement gun broke. For all but the first trip they paid shipping both ways and returned it to me in less than a week. The people I talked to on the phone were professional.
Although it took longer than I would have liked (a month) Kahr took care of a PM9 that was malfunctioning. After the repair it is now one of my favorite handguns.

Best in the business is Glock, S&W has ramped it up significantly since the intro of their M&P series. I've never dealt with beretta so can't comment. Ruger sucked on two defective pistol's to the point where they lost me forever as a customer, CZ was very good about a firing pin problem and there's no reason to expect that wouldn't continue. Colt's a bottom dweller with Ruger, which really just sucks as I love my LWC but it will never go back to them for any service, just to a good pistolsmith. Of course all are IMHO....

i have personal experience with sa and ruger! they are both great in my book. it is really hard for me to decide which one was better, i think that would be up to an individual basis, there were pro's and con's to each, but i was and continue to be very satisfied with both companies, and for that i will continue to buy/own/use/carry/ and shoot rugers and sa firearms.

When I had my FFL, I dealt with S&W, Ruger, Colt, Remington, and Marlin and always had good response and service.

Marlin, while a rifle company, is good.
Taurus customer service sucks. I had a good time telling their Customer Service manager at SHOT Show.
Haven't dealt with any others.

S&W customer service is wildly unpredictable. One person gets exactly what he wants, exactly the way he wants, on time or early. Another has a problem which S&W fixes politely and promptly. Another still has nothing but problems which S&W make no serious effort to remedy, and is treated with disrespect. It's virtually impossible to predict which will happen.
I've had one experience with S&W and it was nothing short of hideous. They damaged a gun which I sent them for repair. They first denied what they'd done. Then they resisted the remedy upon which I insisted. Then they repeatedly tried to go back on promises they made. After six months, I finally had to get my lawyer involved. That got Neil Gibree, S&W's head of customer service involved. It was at THAT point that I started being treated with respect and a serious effort was made to do the right thing.
Not everybody has the awful experience I did. Not everybody has the great experiences others have. There just doesn't seem to be a way to predict which kind of experience you'll have.

I think the fact that the president of Charles Daly has an on going thread on this forum asking for customer input speaks volumes about their customer service. I personally have dealt CZ & RIA customer service & both are excellent

it is great to see that there are several companies out there that care and take care of the customers

Im my experience, S&W hands down.
Having said that, I've found no company that beats Dillon Precision for factory support.

Thank you all very much for the input, I really appreciate it. I will keep that information in mind when considering my next purchase.

I've had good experience with Sig Sauer. Haven't had a need for customer service from anyone else. With Sig, I bought a P226 CPO that had a loose rear sight. They replaced the rear sight and turned it around to me in about a week.

I think the nod has to go too these; Smith & Wesson, Springfield Armory,
and SIGARMS. Their customer service has always been above reproach~!

I have had a very good experience when dealing with these companies:
Wilson Combat
Stag Arms
Kahr
Fusion Firearms
Bad experience with:
Taurus
Those are the only manufacturers I have ever contacted that I can remember

H&K!!
(Yes I'm being sarcastic here):D
Truthfully I think Ruger has the best customer service, I haven't dealt with them much myself but I've heard really great things.
