hypotheticaaly speaking if I want to load 223 to run thru my mini 14 do you have to trim the brass before reloading every time or can I just trim the cases every other time? I'm not looking for match grade ammo. I would even prefer to load 223 on a progressive loader because the mini eats them like candy. I'm use to loading pistol ammo and have not yet begun any rifle loads that require the extra prep. Thanks for the help.

I reload 223 on my LNL AP. I don't have to trim every time BUT I check every time to find any overlength brass that may sneak in. I use a Lyman case gauge to make sure the cases have been resized properly. Otherwise the bolt will not close :(.

Happy plinking!

If you can identify your brass, get the Lee trimmer setup, trim your brass. Then install the RCBS X die. It will keep your brass from stretching. Works really good.

Do what stubbicatt said, get a RCBS X-die. Trim your brass once and as long as you the X-Die you will never need to trim it again. I am believer in the X-Die technology, I have 223 brass that has been loaded 10 times and is still crack free and cleans up like new.
