Use the 158 grain JHP load data. Just start from the low end and work up to what you want all the while watching for over pressure signs...No problem...
Bushmaster, bozo, thanks. The reason I ask for this data and not just use the 158 JHP data is that my book (lee) lists some powders for XTP and they see to be lower than the JHP data. I take this to be due to a longer bearing surface?
bozo, where is that data from? thanks.

I haven't used 2400 with my .357 (yet) but my best Gold Dot load in my Security Six is 15.5gr of Win 296.
In general, I've found the best accuracy with Gold Dots (in all the calibers I've loaded them in) with loads that are slightly reduced from by best FMJ or other JHP bullet loads. I'm not sure why that is, but it has worked that way for me everytime in .32ACP, .38Spcl, .357Mag, & .45ACP loads.

Ok, I found a little bit of tinkering that I did with data I had a while ago:

I chose weights from the ranges listed in the data I had that I could throw with the disks that I had so I could load large amounts of ammo at a time. Most consistant results across the board was with 2400 (also was looking for a load for 170gn Keiths)

I shoot the 158gr XTP Hollow Points and Flat Point XTP with 14 grains of 2400and CCI magnum pistol primers. It gives about 1350fps out of my 4" barrel S&W Model 66 frame. Very accurate loads. Probably could add a little more powder, but this load is managable and accurate.

birdbustr- do you think your mag primer was giving you that much more velocity?
With 15.0gns and CCI small pistol primers i was getting 1330 out of my 6" tube.

All I can tell you is what the Chrony says. I did chronograph my rounds if that's what you are asking, and not just guessing. In my rifles I know that normal Federal Primers to Federal Magnum primers is only about a 40fps gain.
I also load my rounds to max OAL for what the cylinder allows. Can't remember the exact measure offhand, but I have it at home.

not implying that you were guessing, i assumed you chronographed them.
I seated mine in the cannelure. Guess I'll have to paly around some more with this.

That data I listed was from the 13th edition Speer and the 7th edition Hornady Books.
