Every day we hear how many of our troops have been killed since the President claimed an end to the military campaign. While the press likes to shove #'s down our throat , they fail to compare the casualties to life in the U.S. Those killed in Iraq 52, during the same time period there were 66 murders in Washington, D.C. alone.

Speaking of numbers, how about the number of our troops who would statistically die in accidents otherwise? How many Iraqis? Yes, this little experiment in empire-building is costing umpteen gazillion dollars, but how much more is it from what the pentagon would otherwise be spending? When was the last report of a suicider bombing in Isreal? Doesn't it seem like the opposing groups have suddenly gotten a lot more willing to sit down and yell at eachother instead of killing each other?(MicroBalrog, care to chip in?) (To be fair, when one side picks a terrorist as its leader, and the other picks a combat general, there is bound to be severe..friction.)

The democrats would have us believe that if the game continued to be played using the same rules that haven't worked for a half century, the problem could be surmounted. Bush changes the rules and plays the game differently and changes the situation, and he's the idiot/murderer/bad guy/what-have-you. Of course, Bush has already said one phrase that would never issue from Clinton's lips (either Clinton): "I take full responsibility..." (Not exactly relavent, but still nice to hear from someone who may sorta mean it.)

If the soup is inedible as it is, what do you have to loose by stirring the pot?

Sure we're losing a frew guys in Iraq, but we lost some in Germany after WWII was declared "over." We lose soldiers right here in the good ol' Yew Ess of Ay too. Last week there was a story about four Marines getting cut up by a gang in California.

It'd be interesting to compare the number of servicemen killed in Iraq with those killed here in training accidents, traffic accidents, swimming accidents, murders and other such incidents. If the truth were to be reported, Iraq might be safer for military people than the U.S.

Remember the predictions of various talking heads prior to the war? They were all saying that the casualty rate would be 25% in combat in Baghdah. How many tens of thousands of troops have we had in the Baghdad area?

Well, yeah, but representatives of the Democratic (sic) party are in control of Washingon, D.C., so it's okay. </sarcasm>
