Threads that aren't?

There seems to be a few threads up in General that have no messages in them. Well, they don't have the original message anyway. It appears you can still reply in the thread, though. Weird.

Just thought I'd bring it to the attention of the mods.

Weird. Some kind of database problem, I suppose. I deleted those four.

One of them was mine. It timed out while trying to post. The thread came up, but the meat of the post didn't.

Strange.

I've seen those mystery threads usually when the server load is very high. The database gets confused for lack of a better description. Definitely a bug.

98C5, do you recall the approximate time when you create the "non-thread"?

Right before 11am.

The load most mornings is not very high compared to 11PM for example, so my load theory probably isn't right even though I've seen the empty threads most often during heavy loads. Maybe a few members were performing large searches at the time your thread was submitted. Hard to tell. Just chalk it up to a glitch I suppose.

I don't know if it's related or not, but I can't access any of the "subforums" within THR (ie, General Gun Discussions, Shotguns, Revolvers, etc). I can only click on the top thread that is listed at right for each subforum, such as this one in Tech Support.

When I try to go into a subforum, I get a THR "database error" message .

This is the error screen I get:

Database error
The THR database has encountered a problem.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please try the following:
Load the page again by clicking the Refresh button in your web browser.
Open the www.thehighroad.org home page, then try to open another page.
Click the Back button to try another link.

The www.thehighroad.org forum technical staff have been notified of the error, though you may contact them if the problem persists.

We apologise for any inconvenience.

I get the same message if I try to log in at the top of THR. The ony way I can log in is to click on the a thread that is displayed on the main page, hit the "reply" button, then login there.

I can search for threads and use the results, but if I try to access any of the forums directly I get "The THR database has encountered a problem."

Yep, sounds like we're talking about the same thing.

Got another one (thread with no OP):

Just FYI. Couldn't tell you what the cause is, but I figure I can show you the symptoms. Hopefully this isn't something too serious.
