Can any of you guys tell me if there's a powder that is suited for both 9mm and .45 long colt? These would be for practice and plinking. Bullet weights are 115-124 (lead) in 9mm and 250 (lead) in .45 long colt. I was thinking bullseye, but wanted opinions.

Thanks

Unique!

I think Bullseye is too fast to work well in the .45 Colt.
Oh, it will work, but a double charge would be very easy to let slip by in the big Colt case, and that will take most guns apart.

Unique is slower burning, and bulky enough to make that very unlikely.

Red Dot (or Promo if you wanna buy 8 pounds of the stuff.) It's fast burning but very bulky. Works good in 9mm with cast bullets, works *wonderful* in .45 Colt from light cowboy loads up to about 20000 psi +P's. Switch to Herco or slower if you try to turn the .45 into a magnum.

Winchester W231 or Hodgdon HP-38 (same powder).

Red Dot does well for light .45 Colt loads. Use Universal Clays or Unique to get it up there a bit. They will all work for 9MM as well. Maybe not the best, but will work.

Titegroup will do the trick as well. I'll repeat the warnings above. It's possible to double charge a .45 Colt with those fast powders. Be careful.

I like Power Pistol in the 9mm.

I like H110 in the 45C for hot loads and Unique for the wimpy loads.

W231/HP-38 works best for me.

If you want something with more punch in the 9mm Power Pistol, Longshot and HS-6 all work well.
