Kentucky Pistol by Traditions question

I've recently been interested in BP, cap & ball, dueling pistols, rifles, etc.
I came across a Kentucky pistol from Traditions that looks pretty cool, and I know traditons makes some fair to good pieces for the price. Some are just outright great.

So the Kentucky pistol also comes in a put together kit.

Any comments on this style of pistol vs cap & Ball, or any comments on this particular piece? Remember I'm new to black powder and I like simplicity. This is more like an interest for target shooting once in a while. I don't plan to hunt or take it too seriously.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a great way to start. You won't have much invested if you don't care for it but if you get bit by the sulfur bug it will be a good primer piece.

I bought this Pedesoli Kentucky pistol a few years ago (I have 11 cap and ball revolvers). It's one of my most accurate guns due to its long barrel. It's a fun gun, and a good companion to my son's Hawkin's .50 caliber rifle by Traditions.
