Ruger Blackhawk grip frames anodized not sure if there is a way of removing the color without damaging the frame. I believe they can be chemically stripped but that doesn't sound like a DYI project. What do you hope to accomplish by doing so?

Why not just get a SS frame from Ruger and have them fit? I did that several years ago, Purchased a SBH SS grip frame and had it fitted and polished to 45 Colt Blackhawk. Not sure what it would cost now but it would be easier than what you have in mind. I have a Ruger SBH that I had a Bisley grip frame, trigger and hammer fitted when I had the pistol MagNaPorted, barrel is 4 5/8' and was a wrist wrencher to fire now its a pussycat. Call Ruger and ask what they would charge, what have you got to lose?

Some sort of abrasive is needed to remove hard anodizing.
You can do it with fine Emory paper and a Dremel tool if you are really careful about not rounding out screw holes and sharp edges. Start with 320 grit to get it off, then follow up with finer grades to get all the scratches out.
Then buff with a Dremel and red rouge on a felt wheel.
Perhaps a better way would be to take it to a machine shop and have it fine Bead-Blasted or Vapor-Honed. That will leave a nice matte finish that should look pretty good against the blue. And bead blast or vapor hone will not affect the holes or edges in the least if done properly.
