Just got back home from a local gun shop, Cactus was a sweetheart and let me go ahead and bring this baby home with us.
Monday, Cactus and I will be going to the ranch for a week, so my new AR and AK will get a work out. :D

When speed and light weight are needed, this “” carbine is the right choice. Carbine length, ribbed handguards keep swing weight to a minimum and the handguards, pistol grip and trapdoor style A2 buttstock are all molded of rugged thermoset polymer composite material. The heavy profile barrel, with mil. spec. chrome lined bore and chamber, offers exceptional accuracy for its length and is externally manganese phosphate finished for complete protection against corrosion and rust - as are all critical steel parts of the carbine. The latest M16A2 sight system, fitted with a dual flip-up aperture for either short range shots at moving targets or long distance accuracy, offers adjustment for windage and elevation. The elevation knob is graduated from 300 to 800 meters so that range adjustments may be made without the need to calculate bullet drop. The forged, lightweight 7075T6 aircraft quality aluminum receivers have all M16A2 design improvements including cartridge case deflector, last round bolt hold-open and raised ridges for magazine release button protection. The XM15 E2S “” Carbine is shipped complete with 10 round magazine, operation, safety, and instruction manual and carrying sling - all in our lockable, Bushmaster hard shipping case.
Now I need to get some 30rd mags for this baby, any suggestions??

Congrats as well. Exact same model I have - love it. Very handy - very accurate. Fun to shoot. Keep her clean and she won't let you down. Avoid Wolf ammo - very dirty - okay for AK but not your AR.
Check around, there are a bunch of English made pretty good steel 30 rounders flooding the market right now. Check out this thread.

Any gun show will have a zillion AR magazines available of all types.
Do some searches on THR and TFL and you will find good advise about AR magazines.

I've got one exactly like it. I recommend only USGI 30 round mags. I also put the green anti-tilt followers in all my mags. Winchester Q3131A ammo is hard to beat in any AR. One thing I had to do to my carbine to get 100% reliability was to put in an extra power extractor spring. But that only takes a few minutes and a couple of bucks.

I thought that 30-rounders were verboten on post ban weapons?
Or is that only in the People's Republik of Kalifornistan?

Outside of the People's Republics, full-capacity magazines are perfectly legal in any AR. You may be thinking of the 922(r) import ban that prevents you from fitting an SKS with a detachable magazine (or a WASR-10 with a hi-cap unless you have enough US parts).

TG & HB? Say HEY! :D
TG, that's very similar to the model my best friend picked up; he got the 'A3' with the removable sight handle.
Still have to go out and break 'er in.
Nice little rifle, eh?
HB, I know you're about to join the club...I can feel it.
Resistance is futile. :)

Congrats!
You can usually find deals on AR15 mags at gunshows or at AR15.com in the Equipment Exchange section. Other good places to check are pawn shops and Army/Navy surplus stores. You would be surprised at what you find.
As for ammo I've been using the Winchester USA brand in the 40rd value packs with pretty good results.

check out a mil surplus store.theres one near here and they sell just about anything military related(lol..no guns or ammo).bought a bunch of those "adventure line" 30 round mags for 15 each.worn finish but they work.kurts kustom firearms(is on the web) makes a few muzzle brakes for them that look like f.suppressors but are not.he makes some good stuff for the ar15.i also have the very same bushmaster shorty.i opted for the heavy barrel for more weight and maybe improved accuracy.the shorter length for improved handling.i buy the 55 gr fmj in boxes of 100 from the local store, they are reloads and cost me 7 a box after tax.you can get them cheaper still buying by the case.look around.

I had that same rifle. Very nice.
I sent my upper to KKF and had him turn it down to a super lightweight configuration and add a muzzle brake. I shot it a lot in it's standard configuration but decided I wanted something different. If I had waited a couple more months, Bushmaster came out with their own lightweight barrel profile.
I shoot pirmarily Wolf in my ARs. Your Bushmaster will have no trouble with it at all. I have gone through five cases and still counting without a single malfuction.
I use only USGI mags in my ARs. I normally buy them from CDNN Investments, but I have bought some from the AR15.com equipment exchange also.

;) :D Bingo. Good to c-ya here, HB.
So are the Colt mags marked 5.56 USGI? I would think so.

Interesting question.
Around here you'll pay $699 or $999, depending on which of the two main gunshops you go to.
I like the $699 price better myself.
