Well, I just got some bad news. I tried to order a S&W 657 and was told they have been discontinued. Seems like the 657 has been around forever. Has Smith ever discontinued it before and brought it back? Also, can anyone suggest a suitable replacement for someone in the full size 41 magnum market?

Who did you try to order from? Lipsey's has the 657 listed on their web page. Hopefully some distributor will have one waiting for you.

My dealer tried 7 different distributers. Nobody can get it. I'm really surprised no one seems to care.

It is not that I don't care. The .41 is a good cartridge, but N-frames are too big for my hands to use in DA mode; I can't properly reach the trigger. If I have to cock it first anyway, I will use the sleeker, more packable SA sixgun. There are still .41 SA sixguns on the market.

Last I knew Smith still listed the custom shop 657

Just checked and they do still list the full lug 7.5 inch 657 on the Smith site.
