I hope there is no repeat thread. Did anyone else catch the thing in the American Rifleman on the Kimber 1911 in .22? did I hallucinate?

How muc you think they cost?

Yes indeed, I saw one at the local gun store, it's lightweight, all alloy, almost exactly like a 1911 excepting the slide doesn't lock back on an empty magazine.

5-600 dollar price range if memory serves me well, maybe a bit more. Didn't seem worth the money IMHO. I'd rather go for a Ruger 22/45, which has the same grip angle and is half the cost.

There's another option:

A conversion kit is great for the same reasons, maybe even better since it can be quickly installed on just about any brand of 1911 pistol. Installation is as easy as field stripping a pistol for cleaning, and changing between centerfire and rimfire takes about one minute. No modifications are necessary and Kimber Conversion Kits do not require changing mainsprings – keeping things simple.

They are selling conversion kits too, for those of us that already have a Kimber 1911. Or just about any 1911.
The conversions do not require a change of recoil spring?
That's a neat trick and I'll be interested in seeing how they pull that off.

I handled one recently at my local dealer...full size yet due to its weight it felt just like a toy, but sells in the high $500 range.

I like Kimbers, but will definitely take a pass on this model.
