M&P 9mm Magazines

Hello,

Just purchased a S&W M&P 9mm with 17 round Mags. I called S&W to ask them if the magazines were interchangeable with the 9mm compact version of the pistol (like the Glock 19 and 26 can). The official response was "they are the same dimensions so they will fit, but because they are longer you can damage the inner workings of the gun if you insert it into the compact."

Anyone tried this (using 17 round mags as a "backup" for the 9mm compact)? Good idea/bad idea?

I've done it. They work fine. I guess if you really slammed the mag in there it might cause some problems.
