The *SNOW* finally melted enough for me to get out of the house. Been *SNOWED*IN* since like Thanksgivin'! Really needed some groceries, 'cause there wasn't much to do 'cept EAT while I was *SNOWED*IN*! But the first place I went was to pick up my new REDHAWK! Just been chompin' at the bit to get this thing all this time!

Ruger really treated me RIGHT and threw in a Patch and a Sticker with my new Redhawk!
I knew I wouldn't like the Hogue Grips that came on it. And I had a set of Red & Black Laminate Grips waitin' for it. First thing when I got it home was to switch them grips out!

Now I think it just looks GRRRRRRRRRRREAT!!!

The Double Action Trigger Pull is SMOOOOOOOOTH!!!
The Single Action Trigger Pull measures a hair over SIX POUNDS!!!
SIX POUNDS is WAY MORE'N I like, but I think I'll be able to improve this. Just looking down inside the hammer when it's cocked, I can see some burrs that'll smooth out... I'm shore all them internals can be slicked up considerable.
REALLY looking forward to some range time with this one and some of my RUGER ONLY .45 Colt Loads!

Hey! No Fair! I didn't get any patches or stickers with mine!

With the +P loads I think might appreciate the lower middle finger position provided by the Hogues, bud I agree it looks much better with a proper Redhawk grips.

:banghead: Not yet at least. Double action .45 colts are kinda hard to find. Nice to see that the Golden State doesn't think I should own one until they bleed Ruger white for the ability to sell them here.

I have had one of these in the back of my mind for a while. I agree that the Hogue grips are clumsy looking, and the new grips look great. The real test, of course is - how do they feel in use.

Let us know after a range session.

I have been wanting this revolver since before they were made. My local store wants just shy of $800 for one. I've got to find a better deal than that.

Yours is beautiful.

If you're going to bump up the .45 Colt (and there's no reason not to in the Redhawk), you're probably going to get some leading.

Since it's stainless, you can use chemical de-leading instead of elbow grease. All you have to do is plug the forcing cone with a cork then fill the bore with a 50-50 mixture of hydrogen peroxide and white vinegar. Let it sit until this mixture quits bubbling. May have to repeat; I've never had to do it more than twice.

It is amazing how well that works. Got that out of American Rifleman back in the '70s.

I COULDN'T STAND IT ANY LONGER!!! I have low blood sugar today so I'm a little shaky, but really been wanting to try this one out. I was REALLY surprised how well it shot! Looks like I might not even have to adjust the sights! It's a first for me that a Ruger shoots this well right out of the box. :o I usually shoot 25 yards at my range, but didn't want to go clear down there so I just set me up a target out in the driveway, bad weather and all, and paced off 15 yards. No rest or anything, just shooting off-hand here's how it did:

Measureing from the centers of the holes that's a 2" group! The loads I used were 300 grain jacketed hollow points that move out at 1,350 F.P.S., not my hottest loads, but the next best. I'M REAL 8-) HAPPY WITH HOW IT SHOT! RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX!!! GOOD JOB RUGER!!!

Redstick, I love them grips, I have a new Ruger Redhawk coming just like your's, but only in 44 Mag. I think I will be looking for a new set of grips myself.
