I found this product advertised on the Internet that is designed to help enhance the Surefire flashlight as a possible "defensive weapon."

I've seen the ads. IMHO I think it's a gimmick and the hazards and inconviences to the user far outweigh any perceived tactical advantages. It's going to restrict how and what you carry the light in, and how you grab and deploy the light. Besides if you're in a position to make use of that thing, you're too close and would probably be better served with a quality combat folder or a jug of pepper spray.

I don't see using the TID as being an issue. At that point, the light has become something akin to an Yawara. Politicized attorneys aside, this issue is whether Force was justified or not, as opposed to the specific tool involved.

As I mentioned earlier, I have a number of close friends, who are quite articulate, using this.
