Saddams sons should have been buried somewhere under the cover of darkness in the middle of nowhere or cremated.Instead lets give the Iraqis a shrine they can worship. How STUPID can the U.S. be?????????????
Who decided on this?

Tropical, don't forget that both of SH's sons were commissioned military officers. Their deaths took place in combat. There's probably an international convention or something that prohibits simply disposing of the bodies like that - and, in any event, that's what Saddam did with his dead enemies. We don't want to be portrayed as being the same as Saddam in our actions!

Well, look at it this way. The military can keep the site under surveillance and see who comes for a late night visit.

I'm sure quite a few will keep it well "watered"... :D

No win situation. Local customs stipulate a prompt burial and the populace is already pretty antagonized. If it were Osama or some holy warrior things would be different.

I have a hunch we're defining civilized standards for Iraq and trying to lead by example. Those may be wasted efforts, but only time will tell.

By letting the Iraqi's have the bodies and letting them bury them, it gives further proof that they are actually dead and may discourage those still fighting to give up the fight. Every little bit helps.

It gives the locals a place to start digging so they can add a tow-rope. :scrutiny:

Many Arab leaders who have been overthrown via some sort of coup or war have had their bodies desecrated and displayed in public. It's proof to the populace that not only is the old regime gone, but that the new folks are more worthy to rule, are superior to the people of the old regime.

Far better that the Evil Brats went out as they did, with the aftermath as it was.

With any luck, Saddam will also be similarly killed.

Yup, should have dropped them off in the main square of a Kurdish town and let the locals decide what to do with them.
