I've been wanting a 10mm (first one), and found a police trade-in S&W 1086 for $399. Some holster weare, but barrel and rest of internals look almost new. Is this a good price? Not many 1086's out there on net to comparison shop with. Thanks for any input.

The S&W 10xx-series guns are fantastic weapons. They're sturdy, reliable, and fun to shoot. $399 is a good deal, jump on it. They don't make any more of those.

Usual price is $100 to $150 more in Northern Virginia.

I paid about the same for my 1066, and I love it!

The asking rate for Smith 10MMs seems to be about 100-200 more, so I would personally go for it!

Thanks for all the replies, everyone. Looks like the price is too good to pass up.

I just hope no one snatches it up before I can get back to the shop. Though, I don't anticipate that happenning. I think the reason the price is so low is that the shop doesn't think anyone around here will be interested a used, cosmetically blemished S&W 10mm model that isn't even made anymore.

I'm starting to think that 10mm pistols (especially the S&W's) are the "best buys" of the pistol world right now.
