For a S&W 619 N.I.B. 459 buy it now option. http://gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=92489700

I seem to recall reading here that it's the replacement to the 65/66 series, but does anyone know if it is a K-frame or not? Also would it be too big to carry concealed? :D

I am 99% certain this is a L-frame with a non-underlugged barrel like that of a K-frame.

Yes, it's an L-frame 7-shot .357mag. If you get one, you'll want to get the HKS speedloader in size M-587A. It has a round butt frame, so the excellent Pachmyr Compac & Hogue Bantams, both for the K&L-frames will fit. I personally don't like the Uncle Mike's that come with it. $459 is a fair price.
I hope this helps.

The 619 is an L framed Model 65 lookalike with a round butt, the lock, MIM parts, and a two piece barrel. I'd guess that is an OK price, but no screaming deal. Personally, I'd rather have a used 65. ;)

It has a lock frame, so it's not worth much to me.

I would not give $200 for this gun, but this is just my opinion :)

I had a M619 and let me tell you, it's a very accurate revolver and it's easy to shoot. I know it has a lock but if that doesn't bother you it's a great gun.

If it's worth 15 bucks on the scrap metal market, I'd go 13.:barf:

$450 for a BRAND NEW Smith is a good price. An L frame Smith of any barrel configuation around here goes for at least $650. Don't worry about the lock. Don't worry about the MIM. An L frame Smith of any barrel configuation around here goes for at least $650.

There are too many competition shooters who shoot IPSC, ICORE, and IDPA with 625's, 627's, and 686's with MIM parts to say they are worthless. This link is to a website for competition shooters. Many of them do home 'smithing at a top notch level. These are the guys who put more rounds down their barrel in a year than most others.

As far as the lock, I don't care for it, but it would not deter me from getting the gun. I would probably take it out or put some locktite on it.

It is a nice gun, but larger than I would want for concealed carry. That lock doesn't hurt anything other than feelings.

Round here they're goin for well over $700, I bought my 686+ last Dec for $639 on sale, before the price increase and with $50 off.

I can second that, I personally have Never had a problem with my lock.

That is a great price for a fine revolver. MIM parts are highly uniform, they don't require hand-fitting like the early CCH forged parts, and virtually indestructible. I have more IL-equipped than not, including the 642-2 I carry in my pocket - it isn't a problem - to me.

The 7-shot cylinder is in an L-frame, so it does have a larger forcing cone OD, the Achille's heel of the K-frame, while maintaining the same grip size. The partial underlug barrel keeps the 65/66 style alive - a plus for me. In fact, the only way I'd buy a 686+ was with a partial lug - which S&W introduced a few years back as a limited 'Stocking Dealer Exclusive' in a 5"-er - great revolver. I still want a 4" half lug 7-shooter - I'd grab that in a minute, if it were the 620 - I prefer the adjustable sight version. Still, I've only had a 642, 296, 65, & 10 as fixed sight S&Ws - and they have all been on the money, windage-wise, and predictable as to elevation with different ammo. Great price for a new one - grab it!

Still there. Looks like everyone else is about as excited about it as I am.

Friggin' lock :barf::barf::barf:

A brand new S&W revolver for under $500 is still a good buy.Tempting, but I'd be more tempted if it were a 620.
