Simple, rank 'em as you like 'em.

I have a TON of these 4, some others too but I'm more interested in those since I have a goodly bit that I may get rid of.

PMC, Remington, Federal, LC (various years).

Just my opinion:

These first three, six one way, half dozen the other. Several companies have ran the Lake City plant, so it could be Remington, Federal or Winchester.

LC
Remington
Federal

PMC

Dave

What is so bad about Federal/FC? Is it an accuracy thing or safety related?

Is there a difference between Rifle and handgun?

In my experience, Federal (rifle) is softer than most other brands. The primer pockets get loose after just a couple of loads. It takes a lot of time and effort to prep brass and if I'm going to go through all of that, I want it to last more than two or three loads.

I only use range brass and I have a number of headstamps. I've heard that FC brass is questionable but it's been holding up just fine. The most common problem I find is neck splits (or showing small holes) on LC brass. IMG, RORG, Win, Rem and FC, etc have not been showing this.

I think LC is pretty good, but non of it is bad. PMC will have tough primer pockets. Fed is trimmed short, so you can probably sneak another volley out of it before it gets an initial trim.

I like L/C brass about the best. If I could afford new it would be Winchester, then Rem. I have never used PMC.

Federal brass....a whole nother story. I bought what I thought was going to be once fired GI and it turned out to be Federal. Thank God I only bought a 1,000 rounds of this crap. I preped and loaded up for Camp Perry this last year as I didn't want to mix brass in my AR's. My loads are not all that hot, but I popped a few primers with one getting stuck in my trigger group. The rifle didn't shoot all that well it seemed. Took what I had left over to a stste match and again had problems. In fact I thought the rifle was possessed as I was having problems I had not had before. The next match which was 2 weekends ago had L/C brass. The rifle shot well, and I had no problems. No more Federal brass for me.
