Mossberg 500 Safety Ball Bearing?

Alright, I put together a Mossberg 500 12-gauge on a stripped receiver, installing the parts one by one. After I have it all together, I realize the top safety slides back and forth at will.

After disassembling a factory M500, I see that there is a ball bearing under the safety that lets it "snap" into place, preventing it from sliding about. My stripped receiver has a spot for the ball bearing, but no bearing in it.

Does anyone know if and where I can find this very small part so that I can get my M500 in perfectin functioning order? Is this something that should have been built into the receiver or can I order it from Mossberg or what?

Midway USA or Brownells should have it, as should your local hardware store... it is a standard ball bearing size.

Just installed one. They're available at Brownell's.

You might want to check the detent hole to make sure the detent spring is there. If not, you'll need to order one of those as well.

Also, did you install the slide plate under the safety button? The slide plate has the holes into which the detent ball locks in place.
