-Remington 870 Express 12 Gauge, 28" vent rib
-bird hunting, informal trap
-I've only put 50 rounds of Remington SPS #7 1/2 and Winchester AA #7 1/2 through it, and one round of 3" Remington steel T shot since I bought it last July (all on the same range trip). I've been neglecting it a bit, mostly because I didn't go hunting last year (as I normally do) and I've been busy with college and a new job.
-8 months
-I've been shooting shotguns since I was 9, when I started out on a .22/.410 Stevens, which I used to take many a rabbit and an occasional chukar. So that'd be about 13 years.

-What shotgun(s) do you have and use?
-What are these shotguns used for?
I have four shotguns these days. I really only use three of them. Although I have not fired any of them in months. The numbers change from time to time.
All 12 Ga Remingtons. 870, 11/87, 1100
11/87- HD
1100- Hunting
870- Backup for the other two.
-Ammunition used, with round counts if you please.-
11/87- Slugs, I bought a slug barrel for last year so I shoot mostly slugs in it now. Maybe a couple of hundred slugs and a couple of hundred rounds of large shot. This is relatively new to me. I always thought that shotguns should fire shot. Then I started reading on THR about how much better slugs were for HD... then I had to try it and see for myself... then I changed the way I do business and did not put the old barrel back on. Always looking for new ideas I am. Bought this back when I thought "police model" meant "better". Still I am not disappointed in the gun, just not as happy as I thought I would be.
1100- Shoots everything, depends on what I am hunting. Has a tight choke. No clue how many rounds. I really like this gun. It looks worn down but it sure is reliable. Maybe 2K rounds shot? Don't know for sure. Still shoots straight and clean and knocks down rabbits, turkey and grouse with some regularity, (although not as regular as I would like)
870- As above. But I like Semi-autos more than the pumps. Never understood why people think the pump is better. Mine never seem to jam or have issues once I get them running right. Some people talk about how the pump makes a noise to scare people away. I don't want to make any noises.

I've got a pair of Mossberg 500's, one wood stocked and the other synthetic. Both smoothbores with screw in chokes. The wood stock is an upland gun for me, modified choke. The synthetic is mounted with a 2.5X scope and Improved Cylinder choke. That's my Ohio deer gun. The "upland" gun, no idea how many rounds through it. Lots. Had it for years, shoot informal clay pigeons and hunt with it. The "deer" gun is only two years old and has maybe 100 slugs through it. A lot of those were working out a choke/slug brand combo that worked well the first year.

=========================
Have? More than I'd be comfortable listing, to tell the truth. I like to play with shotguns and the best way to get to know one is to own it.
Use? Mostly one of the 870s set up for HD. Most used in recent years is the one I took Louis' class with in 2006, I'd had it for a while before I got to go to class with it. My all time high round count scattergun is my old 311 SXS, no telling how much that one's been shot. Enough to have broken the hammer on the right barrel, anyway.
Round count on the 870? No idea. Not as many as it should be, but more than some.
Ammo used? Right now, Hornady TAP FPD red hull 8 pellet 00 buck or Federal LE127 00 9 pellet, both with FliteControl wads, and Brenneke KO slugs, along with whatever bird shot is handy for practice.
Number of years shotguns owned/years of experience? Got my first one for Christmas (a 20 gauge single shot Stevens/Savage Model 94C) when I was 12. That means I've been a shotgun owner (and shooter) for 41 years now.

After owning over 30 different shotguns through the years here's where I've ended up:
12 gauge over/under, 32" barrels, choke tubes, owned 6 years. Used for all clay target sports.
28 gauge over/under, 32" barrels choke tubes, 4 years. Clay target shooting and back-up gun for upland game.
12 gauge semi-automatic, 30" barrel, choke tubes, 3 years. Waterfowl, back-up clay gun, loaner gun.
12 gauge sxs, 28" barrels fixed choke skeet and light modified, 7 years. Upland game.
12 gauge pump gun (Remington 870) with 20", 14" and 28" barrels. Used for deer hunting in slug-only areas, HD, PC and back-up waterfowler with the longer barrel. I've had this gun 15 years.
28 gauge semi-automatic. 25" barrel, fixed skeet choke. Teaching gun for women and younger shooters. 1 year.
I have no idea how many rounds are through these guns. I would estimate the 12 gauge o/u has well past 60 thousand.
30 years since I started shooting but with a 12 year layoff in the middle when I lived in a big city. 15 years actively shooting since then.

Benelli M1S90 Tactical 12 HD
Remington 11-87 12GA 12 Back-up/Guest Gun
Win Mod 12 Trap 12 Trap
Win 1897 12GA 12 Cowboy Action

SKB 650 20 GA O/U Wife's Upland Gun
A.H. Fox 20 GA SxS Quail/woodcock/grouse
Parker 16 GA SxS Grouse/Pheasant
Mossberg .410 Bolt Keepsake, I learned and killed my 1st duck with it.
I've been shooting shotguns since 12, so 35 years. My dad started me in a Trap league when I was 13, so I lean towards Trap. Before retiring I did quite a bit of travelling with the Army, so each new station led to a new gun or two. No idea the round count, especially the "shotgun game" guns.

How many rounds? for hunting maybe 10 boxes a year. For skeet and trap, a flat a month.
Got my first shotgun when I was 9 and been shooting them ever since. Only time I didn't get much opportunity for any length of time was when I was in the Army. Got enough shooting with the M-14 and M-16.
Total years of shooting shotguns? 53 (damn I'm old!) Been reloading for shotgun for about 25 years.

Since I've been in a chair for the last 7 years, I sold off all my biggest shotguns. Currently own:
Mossberg bolt action 20 gauge that was my dad's first shotgun and has been in the family for over 70 years. Has been used for grouse, deer, and rabbits extensively, although it hasn't been fired for about 15 years now. No idea how many rounds fired.
Savage/Stevens model 94 .410 I bought used about 40 years ago. Used for plinking and hunting grouse, woodcock, and rabbits extensively over the years. Mostly retired now after innumerable boxes of shells.
Rossi .410 I bought 6 years ago. Plinking and hunting grouse, woodcock, and rabbits. I've only shot a half-dozen or so boxes through it so far.
I usually use #6 or 7 1/2 shells and have been shotgunning for over 40 years. Used to hunt ducks and geese, too, but no more.
Thinking about picking up a little 28 gauge SxS or O/U since folks around here seem to think highly of that gauge.

I have a Browning Citori XT, a Rem 870 Police, and a brand new Win. Super X2 Sporting that hasn't been shot yet.
The Citori is used for 90% skeet, and 10% sporting clays
The 870P is for home defense.
The Winchester X2 will be used for clays (it was too cheap to pass up, $449 at local Gander clearance sale, not that I needed another gun...)
I reload 7/8 oz. of #8 & 9 at 1200 fps for clay games in the Citori, and have put just under 5000 rds. through it (looks and works like new)
The 870P has a box of Win. AA through it to break it in, and a few 5 rd boxes of Rem Reduced Recoil 00 buck that have been patterned at "in the house" distances.
I'll try a number of clay loads in the Winchester (1 1/8 and 1 oz. factory, and my 7/8 oz reloads)
I've had the Citori for 3 years, the 870P two years, and the Winchester for two weeks!
I have been shooting shotguns for 4 years. Started with an Beretta Urika for one year before the citori. I have shot mostly handguns and a few rifles (Marlin 1894 and 9mm AR) for approx. 15 years though.

Mossberg 500 camo-Use for waterfowl, espcially geese
Winchester 1400 Ranger-Dove, waterfowl (ducks only, no geese except for incidental while duck hunting
Remington Spartan 220 20 gauge-travel gun (by motorcycle) Dove and some teal
Felix Sarasqueta SxS 12 Used to be my waterfowl gun. Haven't fired it in a few years. Shoot dove occasionally
Hercules (Iver Johnson) single shot 16-Haven't fired in probably 20 years and haven't hunted in 35
-Ammunition used, with round counts if you please.
Mossberg typically 3" steel 1s to 3s and tungsten-iron. Xpert sux in this gun, get a failure to extract now and then. Usually shoot Federal. Fired about 4 boxes of steel and 20 rounds of Tungsten iron up in it this season. Typical.
Winchester This year I've not dove hunted with it (used the Spartan), but did a couple of duck hunts and fired up about 15 rounds of Winchester hi speed Xpert 3 shot 2 3/4" 1 1/6 ounce 1550 fps.
Spartan Fired about 6 boxes during dove season (Winchester AA 7.5 shot) and less than 20 rounds of 3" number 4 steel
-Number of years shotgun(s) owned.
Mossberg and Winchester about 20 years. Spartan about a year and a half. Iver Johnson/Hercules about 40 years. Sarasqueta about 37 years.
-Years of experience using a shotgun.
55-9=46 years. :D
I'll occasionally shoot a club shoot with a shotgun, but I really don't shoot 'em much except for hunting. Since I hunt deer and hog more than or at least as much as waterfowl, they don't get shot all that much. My guns will last forever at this pace. This was a typical hunting season for me except that the doves were thick first of the season and the duck hunting was below average.

Remington 870 12 guage synthetic 28 inch barrel I had for about 4 years very good shotgun. although it did seem to have problems with feeding rounds i still love it. I also got a mossberg 500 because i am in the navy and i wanted to get a inexpensive shotgun. it is outstanding reliable just as good as a remington. I am not into any of that italian 1200$ semi auto trap skeet special type guns. I love a good pump action that is american made with the ability to handle any situation and is reliable

Mossy has the 28" mod choke, Maverick is HomeLand Security w/18-1/2" barrel.
I run 300-500 shells a year, NOT NEARLY ENOUGH, but I stay in decent shooting shape.
Been using shotties for over "mumble mumble" years.

I own two shotguns: Remington 870 Wingmaster TB (bought last year but made in 1960) with three barrels: 30" fixed full choke, 26" fixed skeet choke, and 20" Rem-choke. Other shotgun is an 870 Police with 18" improved cylinder barrel.
I use the Wingmaster mainly for trap so the 30" barrel gets the most usage, but the other barrels get ocassional use as well. With the 20" barrel, it can provide home defense if needed. The Police model's main purpose is home defense, but I've shot informal trap with it just to try to get some wear marks on it.
Wingmaster: about 3000 rounds of #8, 50 slugs, 25 rounds of 00 buck.
Police: 700 rounds of #8 and 25 slugs.
I bought my Wingmaster sometime in the spring of 2007, and the Police in late 2007, so a little less than 1 year. Before getting my own, I only shot shotguns about once a year so I don't count that. I try to shoot trap once a week, but sometimes things get in the way. . .

Haven't shot it in 2 years

faves are a 1958 made RKLT 28 inch 12 superposed. made the year I was born. still tight, its my medium hunting gun
an old beretta sxs in 20 ga. SST ej. coin finish reciever, "b-" wood which came from a shot to heck gun but when I got mine it had a major crack in the wrist and this fixed it.
I have a 28 Gauge AYA thats too pretty to hump thru the woods but there has never been a better grouse and woodcock gun.
at least a half dozen 870's set up as cruiser guns, all around the house and barn.
I have an ithaca double waiting on a new stock and rebuild, its really good barrels and action it just got beat to heck.
Mostly I shoot reloads, # 6 and 7 1/2 shot. Rem blue magic hulls still, some of the new gold ones, Some AA hulls when i get the old ones, Fed paper goldmedal in the 28.

-What shotgun(s) do you have and use?
Winchester Model 12 in 16 gauge
Winchester Model 12 Heavy Duck 12 Gauge 3" Chamber
Winchester Model 24 12 Gauge
Browning BPS 10 Gauge
(one of these things is not like the others)
-What are these shotguns used for?
What ever hunting purposes fit them. I told the wife that the BPS was for home defense. She laughed. :D
-Ammunition used, with round counts if you please.
I have no idea what the Winchesters have seen as far as rounds. The BPS has probably seen about 300 rounds of steel shot with some lead turkey mixed in.
-Number of years shotgun(s) owned.
I have owned the 16 ga for about 14 years, the 12 ga model 12 for about 5 years, the Model 24 for about 7 years, and the BPS for about 6 years
-Years of experience using a shotgun.
16 years.

SHOTGUN: 870 Express 12 ga. with 26" ribbed bbl and 20" rifle sighted bbl.
USES: Trap, informal clays, plinking, tempting self to go hunt, punching paper, blowing up water jugs, nightstand duty.
AMMO:
For clays: the cheapest 12 ga. in eighter #7.5 or #8, shot a couple boxes of the more expensive stuff and some low recoil stuff but I shoot well enough with the cheap stuff that I didn't think I needed it. Probobly about 2500 rounds.
For "plinking", punching paper and blowing up water jugs and nightstand duty I shoot either 2 3/4" cheapo Winchester Super X slugs or 2 3/4" Remington Express or Win. Super X 00 Buck. Bought a couple boxes of 3" 00 and slugs but burnt em all up and have no desire to buy more. Maybe 200- 225 rounds.
YEARS OWNED: 2.5
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: I was first exposed to shotguns at Boyscout camp but I really only count my 2.5 years of ownership as my years of experience.

A wide variety. Mostly I shoot a Kolar .750 bore 12ga with 32" barrels and a set of carrier barrels and tubes for sub-gauge stuff. I've also got guns for hunting, other clay target crunchers and HD.
Most of the ammo I use is 1 oz of whatever I can find with high antimony content and low price. Preferably 1300 fps. Last year, I went through 22,000 shells and Mrs. Trapper went through another 6,000. I also do some reloading. I figure I'm probably up to around 100,000 shells total since I picked up the hobby.
I've owned at least one shotgun since 1987, although I didn't start shooting in earnest until around 2000. I shot trap and hunted some for a few years and then made the switch to sporting clays a few years back. I've been shooting registered competitions for the past three years and am currently AA with just a few punches left to reach Master.

SG owned -1. Rem 870 Police/2. Rem 870 express/3. Ithaca 37 police trade in rifle sights/4. Win M1897 16ga
Used for: 1&3- 3 gun type games/self defense/truck and house guns.
2- spare parts for #1/future project. Might be a weekend turkey shoot gun too based on ridiculous barrel and choke it came with.
4. To look at and pet, future learn wingshooting(again) and restore.
Ammo for all is store bought predominantly slug and buck with value pack bird used for courses which cannot handle slug and buck. #4 obviously does not get fed slug nor buck. Round count unknown. I imagine I've used a couple hundred slugs and 1,000 buck.
Years owned 1,2 seven years. 3 two years. 4- one year.
8 years experience, I was somewhat taught shooting clay targets as a child but I never worked on it. Not an avid SGunner, I am confident in my ability to operate them for defense.

A Remington Sportsman 58 in 16 gauge that my grandfather passed down to me. Who knows how many rounds of God only knows what loads have been down its bore. I've only put a couple hundred rounds of 7 1/2s through it.
A Mossberg 590 12 gauge I recently acquired in a trade. 15 rounds of assorted buckshot and slugs to check function.
A Mossberg 835 12 gauge that is my go to gun for turkeys, crows, ducks and geese. Probably had 3000 rounds of assorted turkey loads and steel shot, along with a mixed bag of various lead loads.
A Ruger Red Label 20 gauge that I bought used about a year ago. My new favorite dove shooter. Probably 1000 rounds through it of dove and skeet loads.
A Remington 870 I've had since I was a kid. It was my "do-everything" shotgun for 10 years. You name a shell and it's probably been fired through that barrel. Probably 35,000 rounds through it total.
A H&R Topper model .410 that was my first gun. Caught fifty kinds of Hell through briars and brush. Didn't shoot it for long though. Probably 500 rounds through it, though it looks like it was shot every day for 50 years.
And finally an old Cannon Breech 12 gauge that my grandfather left me. Looks like Noah carried it off the Ark. No telling what all has been down the bore on that gun, but I refuse to shoot it anymore. Kicks like a mule and the last time I shot it, it broke down into it's three main components: buttstock in my hand, forestock and barrel on the ground.

Winchester 101 - 30 inch barrels - 12G- I've only owned this for 4 years. My round count is around 1500 of mostly 7s. I use this one for doves and clay games (mostly 5 stand).
Winchester 97 - 16G - This was a family gun I inherited a couple years ago (built in 1906 IIRC). Like most 16G 97s, it is setup for shorter shells (2 5/8 I think). This one doesn't get shot much (if at all).
Winchester Model 50 - 12g - 28 inch barrels. This was my first shotgun. I would guess my personal round count is upwards of 7000 rounds. A couple years ago is started to double on me (it was clean, but something is worn), and I haven't gotten it fixed yet. I would guess total round count is around 25K-30k based on discussions with the guy who gave it to me. I have used this for everything from doves & clays to ducks & geese.
Mossberg Maverick 88 - 28 inch barrels (I think). I Bought this one when I started duck and goose hunting regularly. Owned it for close to 8 years, no problems with it. My guess on round count, would be 1000 rounds of various 3 inch steel loads. I also use it as a loaner when dove hunting, it runs like a Timex.
Remington 1100 12g - Fixed choke 20 inch barrel. This was a police tradein from HEB (near Dallas). Bought it cause the price was right and I wanted a toy. I have less then 500 rounds through it, mostly Hornady TAP 00, but I pulled it out for a couple rounds of 5 stand ("You can't hit *stuff* with that short barrel" Ok, since this is friendly lets go $10 a miss - you shoot first  ).
I haven't been around as long some (most) of you guys. Heck, I would bet most of the shotguns I own are older then I am. I started with shotguns when I was 14, and I'm 32 now, so roughly 18 years. Long enough to know I don't know anything.

#1 my one and only shotty is a Verona SX405, 28" 12ga
#2 used exclusively for clay games. 99% trap.
#3 almost always use Remington's Premier STS light target loads. 2 3/4", 2 3/4 dr eq, 1 1/8 oz #8 shot. roughly 700 rounds through it. not one hiccup.
#4 owned it for about 6 years now
#5 about 10 years shotgunning experience. the first few were borrowing a friends to go bust clays.

Only a few.
SKB 100 (S x S 12 ga) bought new in 1971-hardly used for 20 yrs, then a few years of pheasants and ducks before non-toxic mandated. Now "retired" with only about 2000 rounds through it. Nice to look at, can't hit with a double.
Ithaca 37-built in 1958, bought used from an acquaintance in 1999. Full choke, plain barrel, now used only for turkeys. Silky smooth, lots of honest wear.
BPS 20 gauge, bought new in 2002. "Go to" gun, used for everything including decoying Canada geese.
Ancient Mossberg 20 gauge bolt action. Project gun for slugs and knock-about.
For about 20 years, I did no shooting-living in city, no car, no one to go with. Since 1992, have done pheasants, chuka and waterfowl a few times each year.
No regular clays-occasional informal SC.
Probably shoot less than 300 / year, all at "feathers".

I have an old Mossy 500-pump Field model, Modified choke, 28" brrl. I use for rabbits or bird hunting, with SuperX #5's for rabbits, #7 1/2's for birds.
I also have a newer Mossy 500-pump Turkey Gun, w/ 24" tube, extra-full turkey-choke, I use with #4's.
I have a Stoeger SxS, Coach gun, both brrls. Modified, originally bought for CAS Shooting. It makes a wonderful rabbit gun, loaded with SuperX, #5's.
I have an old like new New England Single barrel, modified choke. just hung on the wall, in case, we need a spare, when the boys come out hunting.

All of the following were bought used, some of them well used, and I have no idea on round counts. None are nearly as high as they should be. I realize I have just about zero brand loyalty when it comes to shotguns.
a couple 870s in 12; ducks and HD, general purpose, loaners; I've had my oldest for about 12 years, newest more recent, all of them are probably older than I am or close to it.
Ithaca 37 in 20; doves these days, just about everything for the first 8-10 years I had it; got my first 20+ years ago, my second as a backup when Ithaca shut the doors a few years ago, never wanted to be without one. Glad to see they have reopened.
A303 in 20; lending to new folk for learning, some quail;
A391; ducks, although I don't do that nearly enough to justify having a gun for it
686 in 20; quail, woodcock, my usual upland bird gun
Cynergy in 12; pheasant, some quail; clays
Benelli m1; fun at the range

I've been shooting a shotgun for 35 years, seriously for 16 years, competitively for 4 (yrs 7-11) of those 16. I'm 42, and have been off the course for 5 years, allowing my wife to not work, and sharing in raising the daughters.
All of these guns have been shot at paper for patterning and the twelves have been fed 90% handloads.
Mossy 835 12ga 28" Screw ins
New in 1998
Ducks and turkeys (once) and pheasant 3" bismuth and 2.75 lead
One thousand - 1500 rounds. Mostly 1-1/8 or 1-1/4 oz lead #6, #5, and #4 in remington wrappers,w. green or blue dot.
Italian 6.75 lb Unnamed SxS Double - (A.Zoli? Bernadelli?) - 2.75" 12ga 28.5"
Cylinder and Modified, reamed out from full and fuller in 1992.
Mine since 1979, Dad's new before the GCA of 1968.
Skeet (have gone 25 straight from low gun)
Sporting (won some cash, but the 391 is better)
5 stand (Unstoppable from low gun)
Woodcock (incidental to grouse)
Ruffed Grouse (Mainly - It's just and right)
Bobwhite quail (Incidental to pheasant)
Pheasant (field and tower)
Ducks over dekes (rarely)
WELL over 20,000 rounds. I shot 100 rds a week through this over three years, summer and winter. Maybe closer to 30,000. Not exaggerating.
It shoots best with a 1 oz or 7/8 oz load over clays or other fast burning powder.
I did push 1-1/8 oz loads with 27 gr green dot for a season, but I love using 3/4 oz of #8 in a XX wrapper with red dot and smoking 22 or 23/25 clays.
Browning A5 - Belgian 20ga - 26" modified
(and a 28" Jap. bbl that needs to be threaded)
Purchased in 1996 - Gift from wife
Woodcock
Skeet
Factory loads, have used spread-rs with some success. Never really warmed up to this one, but the wood is that 1960's orange browning walnut.
Remington 870 Wingmaster- 28ga - 26" with brileys.
Traded pistols for it in 2006
Informal clays shot only, it's for my daughters, who are six and four.
Berreta 391 Sporting - 30"
Skeet,
Sporting,
Trap (won some cash at cutthroat!),
5 stand- I have shot grouse with it just because I needed to show the fools who insist the only think good on grouse is an 18" remington.
I load this with 1 or 1-1/8 oz lead over clays or red dot. I ran the green dot loads here, but it just seems too dirty for a semi. I've mentioned I ran 2000 rounds without cleaning the action, with no FtF.
Maybe at 4500 rounds here - Only had it a year before children brought a halt to serious shooting sports.
Not of consequence - an 870 wingmaster 20 that was ignored after I got my hands on that double...

[1] Guns
A Perazzi MX14 Trap Combo for trap (I shoot ATA Registered trap as well as some local leagues). I also use the double barrels for sporting clays on occasion.
A Bernaddelli Lusso SxS 12 gauge for pheasant and occasionally sporting clays or ZZ Birds.
I have some other shotguns, but those get the most workout.
[2] Ammunition
For trap and sporting clays, I use whatever 1 ounce, 7.5 or 8 shot, 2.75 DE target loads I can find at a decent (more or less) price. Lately it's been Remington Gun Club.
[3] Misc.
Between competition and practice I shoot between 5,000 and 8,000 targets a year, roughly. Total rounds expended hunting is therefore an inconsequential number. I've been shooting a shotgun about 9 years.
