Sounds silly, but I can't find a manual on the net.
The take down lever will not move down at all to even begin disassembly.
Thanks for any help.

A Smith & Wesson 4506? Like this?

It should take down just like the other "Third Generation" models. That lever is the slide stop. Draw back the slide until the notch lines up with the rounded part of the front of the slide stop. While holding the slide in this position (wrap your left hand around the top of the slide and the bottom of the frame to trap it; it is under spring tension), push the small exposed end of the right side of the slide stop inward, to your left. It may require a little tap (e.g., from the butt end of a screwdriver or a plastic mallet) to start it moving. Finish pulling the slide stop out and ease the slide forward off the frame. The barrel and recoil spring/guide rod can now be removed from the bottom of the slide. Note where the little flanged end of the spring guide rod goes in the half-moon notch in the barrel.
Reassemble in reverse order. There are three spring-loaded levers that have to be pushed down and out of the way to let the slide go on. The large one sticking up on the left side is the ejector. There are two more on the right side of the gun, for the firing pin block actuator and the magazine safety. The last one may require a small screwdriver or similar tool to keep depressed while you put the slide on the last half inch or so. Also, the guide rod must be perfectly seated on the barrel notch.
S&W would probably send you a manual if you called them, or there may be a link to it on the website.

Push out instead of rotate as all my others. It's striped.
